have a look at the cell batt, notice how there are 3 terminals? should be a + a -and a third one.
part of the charging curcuitry is inside the battery itself, hence the third terminal.

that plug pack is just simply a power supply, the charger itself is in the phone and the battery.

also, there is a difference between lithium ion and lithium polymer cells, they should be charged accordingly.
