childhood dream toy...

Post by hue35 »

I had a lot of slot cars as a kid, and I always fantasized that I could drive off the track and keep goin'. So, when those NOS Bottle cars came out with their HO scale intact, I had to build me up a slot car that goes off the track.
T-Jets are my faves, so that's where I started. This was a total bitch. The body is screwed onto custom mounts behind the front wheel wells, and one screw in the back from underneath. The body is literally crammed on the chassis, and I broke the steering wires FIVE DAMN TIMES trying to get the shit to fit. It's not the best driving car, but it works pretty well, all things considered.

those days were the shiznit.

I like the design of this chassis because it's very compact, but it's a bitch to work with compared to bits. I lost the gear that goes on the axle and almost threw it in the parts bin. Then I figured, parts for what? After calming down, I tried the pinion from a zip zap and it worked. I may try another one later if the price of those cars drops to cheepniss.

Dear Life Cereal, Where do you get off? Part of a balanced breakfast and delicious? Who do you think you are? By now you may have guessed I'm speaking ironically and have nothing but good things to say about what you do. Life cereal do not change a thing.
