Now that I can see the pic... that's beautiful. Looks like you matched the paint for the areas you worked on so that you wouldn't lose the factory details (z badge on the side, etc.)... good thinkin'.

Thanks guys!

As for mounting the front wheels. I remove them from the Muscle Machines Tuners diecast. The wheels are 3 piece...the hubcap fits up to the backplate, and the tire wraps around both. Remove the hubcaps from the backplate and leave the tire on the backplate.

Carefully twist off the front wheel pins from the existing knuckles using pliers or a Gerber to hold the knuckle and the head of the pin. Make sure to pull straight out.

Next carefully hand drill 3/64" holes in the backplate of the wheels. You may have to wallow(sp?) out the hole a little. Check that the pins go thru easily. I found it necessary to remove some of the hub on the rear of the backplate to be flush with the outer part of the backplate. Then reinsert the wheel pins through the new front wheel backplates into the existing knuckles. Push the pins and the backplate all the waY up to the knuckles. Make sure to leave enough play for the wheels to spin. Install the hubcaps.

For the rear wheels, I twist off the existing Zip wheels fron the axle, but leave the gear. Completely assemble the new wheels. Carefully drill 3/64" holes in the new wheels the exact diameter of the axle. Do not wallow(sp?) the holes out. Put a drop of super glue on the end of the axle and press fit the new wheel all the way up to the gear. (You may have to shave some of the rear of the wheel first.)

On the other side, test fit the new wheel assembly and get it even with the gear side. Measure the gap betwwen the wheel and the chassis. Cut a piece of Q-Tip tube that length minus a little for play. Install that piece of Q-Tip stick over the axle for a spacer. Now put the glue on the axle and press the wheel on. Adjust how far the wheel sets equal to the other side.

Here is a pic of the wheels 3 piece design...

Here is a pic of some of the other style hubcaps that can be installed. Just pull the tire back a little bit, remove the existing hubcap, and install the new one. No need to do any other mods, just change out the hubcaps.

You will need to shave some of the front fenders to get full steering. These wheels are wide.
