What I suggest is getting a bit closer (but not too close) getting some really good lighting (like a bare buls 6 inches over the car) and then crop it down so the car fills the frame. try that before getting a new cam. hell I take all of mine w/ an old 2.1 sony cam w/ no macro and I feel I get good results.
