Bit Mini

Post by 45tr0 »

This was a toyeast mini, until i cut down a 27mhz bit chassis and crammed it underneath the (stupidly heavy) toyeast shell. It is probably my favourite bit of all.

So far it's got small tomy wheels at the rear for the sake of authenticity, a 3.0 motor, custom swaybar to fit under the shell, white roof and as of this weekend should be running dual cells (if my soldering iron arrives). I also need to reinstall the headlights.

It already flips when cornering at speed, so things could get interesting...

You said you had to cut down the chassis. So those Mini Heart cars are smaller than bits?

Nah !
I bought 2 of them when they first came out, the chassis are the same, the tabs are a lil different which is encountered with various clones. As a matter of fact, I just noticed the other night that the chassis is an exact replica of a Hummer chassis I have sittin in Da Body Shop. White PCB cover w/2 holes! Can you believe I started on a project back when we had our Moderator Contest and it's been shelf'd ever since :?

The chassis on the mini is about the same size as a bit. I had to cut off most of the front tab and part of the back tab, and shave the inside of the wheel wells to make it fit.

They are great, but the main reason i swapped out the mini chassis is 'cos the 2 speed feature started to shit me, and it was surprisingly pretty slow. (the same motor flies in another bit? weird). The cool thing about them is that with turbo mode on, they slow to 60% for corners, to stop it flipping.

I'll tell ya what you do with a 2 speed car. First off, FETs will help it pull itself at the slow speed, and it won't seem so slow.

Second you need to reverse the function of the button, so its always fast, and only slow when you hit the button. This tutorial is for a bit type controller, but you may be able to adapt the info for your controller.

those hummers and mini's were the same chassis type (p digi).
the boost on the mini is weird, only works in forwards, cuts out when turning or reversing.

great idea with the small rims, that gives me an idea....

Yeah I remember reading about that on some car, I thought that would be beneficial, so I guess it sucks then, huh?

for the most part it's ok, but for times when you need to power backwards to get off an obstacle it would be nice to have full control.

This is the best thing about them, it's like having brakes 8-)
