Use this gallery to show off your own garage of sleds - everything 1:32 and smaller - no matter if they be bangin, slangin, or just barely hangin.

Not flossin'... Mud Beater in progress!!!

Post by frizzen »

Went to Gas America last night, gas was down to $3.08/gal for 87 octaine. (they now give lube samples with 10 gallon gas purchase so the raping isn't as painful)

They had "4X4 TRUCK MODEL" unbuilt diecast monster trucks out on the toy isle, had to pick some up. Turns out they're diecast aluminum. :( There was a stepside Chevy that doesn't fit, don't waste your money. But the Bronco-ish thing will fit with some work.

So, we need to hack it apart...

But will it be worth rebuilding?

It's got some bumpers, brushguard, gas can, windows, off-road lights, and a few other things I'm gonna put back on.

Also picked up a Yamaha Warrior ATV that'll give up some killer rims and tires for a Rally Bit later.

*shrug* I'm open to suggestions for colors. Just remember, gotta look good with mud and dirt. I'm leaning toward an old, rock crawling, mudding, beater of a rig. If it looks good enough people want to see one flossed, I might do another one that way if it's not too much of a pain in ass.

I've still gotta connect the body back together, the last pic was showing off my wicked mad MS Paint skills. :-D I've been pimpin' with paint since back in the day.

I think it should look pretty decent, though the rear section might be too long for proportionalty. I wanted some opinions about if I needed to hack it apart a few more places, or if my photo-chop looks ok. If it looks good to everybody, I'm ready to pour some epoxy. If it looks bad, tell me what needs to be longer to make up for that rear.

Body is a snug fit on the zz-m chassis so I don't have to worry about mounting tabs, or foam pads. Wiggle gently, press down till PCB cover hits ledge in body just under window line. No wheel clearance issues. Rocker panel almost touches uppermost fake substructre line on monster chassis. Right now, I only have to build 2 windows out of styrene, though they extend slightly onto the roof so there's a curve I'll have to form. Diecast body is rather heavy.

All in all, not bad for $3.00, though not great either.

Theirs is a plastic body of THE SAME DAMN CAR, that already fits an off-road vehicle, and seems to have better detail!. (His Yellow Stationwagon is my White Stationwagon) I'm kinda loosing motivation for finishing this diecast body.

Looks like I'm going to Walgreens once I've bought my bike and make sure I've got enough greenbacks out of the bank to last the week till payday.
