OK, I am gonna be straight up honest w/ you sat. While reading this thread I was thinking wow not a bad ride, I raelly dug the hot rims and agreed w/ Hue in that you should paint a bright stripe to make it bling. Then you went the total opposite way and I was thinking wow, that's a suprise but still lookin tight. Over all tho I felt the tires and rims didn't fit the shell becase it looked like a soccer mom color on Rally Shoes.

Then you went and did this

HANDS FUCKIN DOWN your best shell yet IMO! It went from oh nice somone else that can hand paint, not to bad. To Good lord that's a insanly tight rally car. Love it, absolutly love it.

Seeing it in the sun I'm doubly amazed how smooth that painy came out.
You said you used water based Testors. You talking about that Acryl stuff? Did you thin it? What kind of brush you using. I gotta know.
I gotta go off track for a sec. You know Finks is all surprised by the direction you went, but that's exactly whats so great. There is no real right or wrong, its all a matter of taste and opinions. You could have offset the chrome rims somehow, and went a different direction. That's what makes it interesting, we could all take the same body, and no 2 woudd come out exactly the same.

Do you shake/mix the paint well 1st CD? Sounds basic and all but that's all I have done in the past. Grab a crap shell and experiment!crazydave wrote:Damn, I'm amazed. that's the same stuff that goes on all thick and globby for me. Man that turned out better than I expected! I started searching for some Rally cars to post with my reply but ran outta time. You did EXACTLY what I would've done to complete it. The right decals in the right places!

Thanks again pimps for your suggestions.
I modded the chassis today. I had 3 1/4 cells for the Zap SE in her but they must have got damaged or something cuz they only held a charge for like 1 min or so. I had a little boat that wouldn't stay afloat so I tore it apart and found a nice little 2 cell pack (120mah 1/3 GP batts) and 2 white endbell motors. Got to thinking and decided I wanted to use it all and this is what I ended up with. Got the slicks on her for ridin around town...

I picked up some of those paints you pointed me to, Sats.
They're only $3.50, compared to the sets with the bottles (I think
, that are like $9. Its even called the "value set".
They come in a cool interlocking plastic trays, with a tray for mixing, and a wash basin. Pretty damn cool for the price.
These paints are waaaay thinner than what I'm used to. I think that explains alot. Also I checked the label, and the stuff I got is Acrylic Enamel. Requires thinner to clean up. This stuff is water based acrylic. Makes it really easy to work with. I experimented a little, and the silver layed a little thin, but the black worked excellent to touch up a couple blemishes on a body I just got. Layed smooth and glossy.
Thanks for turning me on to these.
