Stretched Chassis Expedition

I started to tease you guys with this here: 'My Next Project'
I figured the finished product deserved it's own thread, and is more appropriate for the 'Custom Jobs' forum anyways.
Ok so here's how it went down...
I tried to break the chassis because I figured that would be easier than resawing, but that sucker is solid, so I left it and shaved the body down instead.
Painted the chassis up and it looks good. I still need to add at least one more battery.

I figured I'd have a problem with the paint sticking the the chrome. So I tested first, and I was right, but I found out wiping the fresh paint off took the purple off the chrome, so I made chrome bumpers and grill, and sanded the rest down. I couldn't get all the chrome off without sanding out details, so after a couple coats it got a really bad rough texture. I wet sanded with some 1000 grit sand paper, trying to leave most of the paint, and level it out. That was a total success, and the paint came out really nice. I replaced the purple chrome with gold in my paint theme, and purple would have been better.

Cracked the back of the body when I was sanding it, and re cracked it after I painted it.
And I forgot to mention in the beginning I got this body from a $1.50 pullback monster truck that was right next to the $5 Thunder Charger cars at BigLots. So total investment, not counting glue and paints that I had around, $6.50.
It's cool how the lack of external antenna, longer length, and the small rear wheel makes it look so much more realistic.
I'm happy with this one, despite the crack.
