sigh my brand new zz not more than 3 weeks out died tonight after its positive power wire to the circuitboard broke free and in an attempt to re solder it into place, the steering wire melted it little pools of metal. It was given a short burial and then was shipped to the junkyard to be stripped down and added to the junk pile.

Sorry to hear of your loss, but I'm a bit baffled by the steering wire turning into pools of molten metal. Copper has a really high melting point that no soldering iron could reach. What were you soldering with?

At any rate, just a tip for the future; no more than 15 watts to solder safely on a PCB.

thanx

ok heres a few soldering tips.

1: dont use a soldering "gun"
2: for pcb jobs i havnt been using any fresh solder. the wires are small enough. i just put the tip on the soldering hole and then press the wire against and pull the iron away real quick.
3:always be sitting when soldering. you shake less

Unless you solder while on the toilet...lol This can cause a little shaking, and ultimately cause you to burn your willy..
