first off, you guys have prolly seen this already but i have some updates and i think they should be in tha flossin section. secondly, it is a complete coincidence that bilbo and i have done a t-top, let alone to the same car, with plans on entering the rcmod contest. so with that said, let me reveal to you what I've been working on the past few days.

i thought it would be really cool to do a t-top on one of my cars, and the only one i had the balld of doing anything to was my terribly-painted rx7 body(i have two, don't worry, my colour-changing rx7 is still intact lol)... so I busted out my pen and estimated what i had in mind... then i took my dremel and hacked the windows and some of the roof off. Prior to this, I measured out the space in the back window and cut a piece of plastic to fit inside and made sure there was room for the antenna.

here is what she looked like prior to the paint removal.

and after the paint was somewhat removed

after my dad removed the rest of the paint, I added my own little front bumper with plastic

and then we added side skirts

just last nite, we put on primer and today it was dry!

and now it's current stage... after masking the windows and spraying with green metal flake!!

all that's left to do is a little detailing, including some hand painted-on decals with gold(also metal flake).... then a clear coat... i'm thinking she'll be done completely by tuesday!

Wow, what an incredible transformation, it's really neat to see that thing take shape! Can't wait to see the finished car.

Copying is the sincerest form of flattery

I know midget_man1387 came up with the idea seprately, like others that are now up on RCmod's site. I don't know how many saw my RX-7 when I posted it in the early stages, but if it gave people ideas that's great.

Here's how mine came out.

yeah, it's amazing what a file can do!!

truthfully, this is the first project that my dad has helped me on. he was always behind me, supporting me but never actually helping me. he is the one that did most of the filing, but i did most of the painting/paint stripping.

thanks for the props, everyone else!!! specially you hog, that's a rare feat!! :P

i plan on using gold testor's enamel and doing some kind of details on the front end of the car. it works out great because the green has gold metal flake already in it, and the gold has metal flake in it!

alright guys... all I need to do now is a clearcoat and this beaut of a machine will be complete. I painted the rear tailights silver and then later decided that silver and gold on one car would be too much, so I just went with silver only.

what did u use to get the paint of the body in the first place.

the body was soaked in pine sol for two days and then the rest(black, original paint) was sanded off

might as well update you'uns :P

well, I sprayed the clearcoat yesterday so I'm gonna wait 48 hours before doing anything with it. so tomorrow, i'll be posting it up at that OTHER site first, then here, juss so I don't ruin the final product, even though you've already seen the final product, basically! lol
