Scalloped 911 ZZ

This was my first Zip Zap. I hacked it up many moons ago trying to lower it. I decided to hack it a bit more to use as my "performance" body with my alloys. I call it that because it's been trimmed so the front wheels don't rub.

I was attempting some of those extreme flames, but they weren't coming out right, so I decided to try another traditional hot rod theme. This was my first try at scallops, and I think they came out really good.

yeah, they came out really well, another great paint job. You definitely would have needed to cut the body, those tires are wide. Nice looking car.

My usual masking/spraypaint technique. I did touch up the headlights, because I masked a little too much of them and left a red line around them. The red in the hood line doesn't usually show, that's just the flash hitting it. I took these pics in hurry before work. I'm going to try to take some better ones.

For some reason I always do my best work on my hacker bodies. I'm going to try to redo this on one of my good bodies. the Zip Zap S2000 maybe?

Well thanks for the compliments, I appreciate them.

I imagine that scallops might be actually more difficult than flames. You would notice bad geometry easier, flames are more organic. Amazing job Dave. I need to go and re-read your painting tutorial.

My internet was out all afternoon, I was going to post these sooner, but here's a couple shots I like better.

The red is still showing in the hood line line, that's really weird because it's not there in real life, must be because the paint is thin there. :???:

@Superfly, flames and scallops are a different hard. Flames are more of a creative hard, because there's so many styles to emulate, and they need to flow with the body lines to look good, but scallops were harder to lay out, because everything had to be measured out. It's just more time consuming, but it's not like I had to think and plan as much, you know?
