Sorry I messed with ya's.

Ok, here it goes.

See I was thinking of how I could do up my Beetle. I couldn't decide, covertable, whale tail, or both. Then Saturday on my way to work I saw a drop top Beetle, and the way the folded down roof stuck up, it reminded me of a whale tail. I had my inspiration, and I was off. I chopped the top Saturday night, and got everything ready. Then I woke up on Sunday morning at 6:30, and worked non-stop until 11:30 that night. I ate vienna sausages, and candy bars all day, so I wouldn't have to stop to make food. It was almost done. Monday morning I put the last minute details in.

I would have posted this yesterday, but I was tired, and had a headache, but now, I'm feeling alright. So here we go...

I cut the top with a razor saw. Cleaned it up with my big razor blade. Super glued, and sculpted the flipped back top out of Zip Zap packaging. Drilled holes in the back for pen tip exhaust to go through. Did some body kitting with more super glue and Zip Zap packaging. Painted the PCB cover, glued some seats on it. Added a dash board from a Hot Wheels Beetle, fit perfect. Painted dash, seats, and folded roof w/ Testor's Flat Black. Did the water splashes in Bahama Blue, and Medium Aqua. I intended to highlight and shadow the blue with a detail brush, but decided not to press my luck, and leave a good thing alone.

The surf board is just attached with a thin piece of Scotch double stick tape, so I can easily remove it.

The Microsizer Sport chassis had the ZZ rims and front tab dropped prior to the body mod. It also has 1 mosfet in foward and reverse, and a Perfection 3.8. So it's plenty quick.

Welp, there it it is. I hope you guys like it, because it was one that I truly felt inspired by, and did totally in a style I dig. My goal was to take the German techniques off the Autobahn, and bring them to the West Coast

Incredible! That's the best Beetle I've seen so far. I really like the tonal shades of blue, and I REALLY like how you did a convertible how a convertible really is: the top folded up on the package shelf. The surfboard is icing on the cake.
I chopped the top Saturday night, and got everything ready. Then I woke up on Sunday morning at 6:30
I smiled when I saw that. A true bitpimp. It's hilarious to me that anymore my idea of a fun Saturday night is going over to hue35's house, crackin a beer and burnin a bowl, and racing on his living room floor or going down to the basement and turning on the soldering irons. Woohoo!

Well done dave as usuall.

I see you painting/modling skills just get better ever time.

Between this and CW's beetle now I really cant wait for my beetles to come in.

Only thing that could have made it better would have been a cloth rag top that could have been closed in the rainy weather hehe.
