okay, both those need to be chopped to fit a bit, sit right, drop top.
any takers?
frickin awesome bodies, especially the old school - but as always, they sit all forked up on the chassis.
I know RS can improve on this. Guess one of us is gonna have to show em how over and over again.

Dear Life Cereal, Where do you get off? Part of a balanced breakfast and delicious? Who do you think you are? By now you may have guessed I'm speaking ironically and have nothing but good things to say about what you do. Life cereal do not change a thing.

Nice pics.....thanks
They definitely need to be lowered. I agree that the wheel wells on the '63 are too big. They seemed to do that to the 67 Camaro in the Camaro past and present kit too.
The detail on them is nice though....especially the '63.
I generally like all three of the past and present kits RS has put out. I wonder which will be next. So far they have done three GM kits....Camaro, Firebird, and Corvette. A nice Mustang kit would be pretty cool....if they can get it right. the 2005 SE stang and the og cobra pretty much looked like ass.

Damn you rich! I was all ready to start my own thread, and if I didn't have to charge the batteries in my camera, I would have beat you by at least an hour.
Anyways, I wanted to start my own thread on this, because I wanted a really mean title directed towards RS.
Welp they did it, they fucking did it. They wrecked my absolute #1 favorite car. The only car to ever combine American muscle in a world class sports car, and introduced the world to the 427 "Rat" motor. It's just coincidence it happens to be made by my favorite car company. The '63 Vette, and they wrecked it. Those bastards. Well Fuck RS.
Anyways, see the new Vette sits typically high, that was to be expected.

Now the Muscle car bodies usually sit fairly well, but this aint a muscle car so to speak, it's got the sleek lines of a sports car, so it sits high too, but way high, worse that the new Vette.

So I stick them on a tab lowered chassis to see how they "really" look.
The new Vette is not bad, but still a bit high considering this same chassis will suck the wheels into my Benz body, and it sits a tad higher in the front, even though the tab is lower in the front. You can see the bottom of the body angled along the chassis.

But my baby, the '63, oh what a mess.
The scrunched ZZ profile has been exagerated by the body's wider than usual stance, and that kills the sleek sporty look of the Vette, but most tragically is the huge disproportioned wheel wells. The front is bad, and to be expected considering past ZZ bodies and the sleek front end, but why does the back have an even bigger gap? There's no reason for it, and yet there is this 1/8th inch gap behind the rear wheel.
Even on the slammed chassis it still sits a tad high, but I think the front is supposed to be going lower, but it's smashing on the chassis, binding up the suspension.
And they turned the big ol' fat sidepipe into a body trim panel. WTF is that? Man, I've heard of taking artistic liberties, but that's stretching it for me.

So now I wonder, "Is it worth fixing?" Any other car I would just immediately say no, but this my favorite car. Oh what the hell am I gonna do with this?

I checked the website and purposely went to a RS that didn't have them, because I needed a cable, and couldn't afford other goodies, but there it was anyways.
They had the monster truck tire and motor sets too, thank god they didn't have the monster trucks too, or I would not be able to make rent next week.
But hopefully they have the monster trucks in by next week, so I don't have to order one, that is, if I still get one, I'm pretty POed at RS right now.

Actually Dave, I think they look pretty decent on the lowered chasis (well, as far as ZZ's are concerned)....maybe its the angle of your pics?
Also, I think the '63 is supposed to have a body trim panel on the side:

I think RS did a good job with the little details on the '63, like the emblems, taillights, chrome, etc.....but I am in no way justifying the mess they made. Why. I ask you....why did they have to make those shells sit so high, when they obviously could have been made to sit lower? Even worse, and harder to correct, why the hell is that back wheel well soooooo huge???
I'm a bit disappointed myself. Why can't they get it ALL right? That '63 had the potential to be the sweetest bit shell of all time....ugh!

Because they had to make it fit that god-damned SE chassis you love so much... big, bulky... I got both GTO's new in the package and I think I'm just gonna go trade 'em in for a monster truck... I just think the SE's are a damned shame, 'cuz now they're fuckin' everything up.Sdog wrote:Why. I actually got the Vette kit last night, too. With the exception of the wheel wells, I really dig it. However, I immediately fit mine to a rather special chassis I have (pics tonight), and it was sick... I'm gonna put one together tonight and I'll post up some pics... I think the '63 has serious potential. I also think the new vette is gonna be nice dropped on the ground. The finish work on the set I picked up is as good as I've ever seen on a Bit body... all the trim and detail is painted really well.

I just hate that wheel well, damn I hate that wheel well so bad.
They did do a nice job with the details, I'll give them that, but the over all form kinda loses something, the roof is sorta bubbly and not sleek. It just missing the sexiness is all, and I guess I might have set my expectations too high from the pics I saw, and I'm suffering some intial disappointment.
Richh, the tires looked really cool. I don't remember clearly, but I do know I wasn't planning to get them with the truck, but now I am.
I do remember one set look like your typical gumbo mudder type off road tire, those the ones I liked. I'm think one set was slick, and the other set I'm really not clear on, but I seem to recall it reminded me of some kind of ATV.
Hue, hang on to one of them GTOs. I'll more than likely buy that from you someday. It's the only muscle car body I don't have, and they're exhausted around here. Maybe I can FET the chassis for you in exchange for the body.

I was under the impression these were for the og ZZ chasis, not the SE.hue35 wrote:Because they had to make it fit that god-damned SE chassis you love so much... big, bulky...Sdog wrote:Why. I think that's the case, but it looks to me like they're making sure that everything Zip Zap is compatible... at least it sure seems like they had compatibility with the SE in mind, given how that thing sits.Sdog wrote:I was under the impression these were for the og ZZ chasis, not the SE.hue35 wrote:Because they had to make it fit that god-damned SE chassis you love so much... big, bulky...Sdog wrote:Why. ZipZaps have ALWAYS been finely detailed from the very beginning!I think RS did a good job with the little details on the '63, like the emblems, taillights, chrome, etc

Ima head over there right now

=========================================================
Well they had the Hulk & Monster Hunter Monster Trucks.
They also had the Ford GT and Viper. The Viper was TOTALLY unrecognizable.
You think the pics look bad, this thing looks worst in person. The Ford GT is
just too tall & narrow when it should be short & wide. So I bought another
case $4.99.
Of course no Vettes yet

I hafta agree. These cars are extra wide too. I'll stick 'em on a SE chassis with lowered tabs and see what happens.hue35 wrote:I think that's the case, but it looks to me like they're making sure that everything Zip Zap is compatible... at least it sure seems like they had compatibility with the SE in mind, given how that thing sits.Sdog wrote:I was under the impression these were for the og ZZ chasis, not the SE.hue35 wrote:Because they had to make it fit that god-damned SE chassis you love so much... big, bulky...Sdog wrote:Why.
