This car seems to be the bane of my existance. I've stripped and painted this like 4 times. I must be jinxed with this car. I screwed this paint job up in more ways than one. I've put too much paint on a few times, and then when I used "goof off" to strip it, I broke my own rule and used too much goof off. The body is marred with uneven surfaces around places like the windows ans other areas. The paint I used was originally a very bright chrome silver. I wanted to fix up some of the trouble spots, so I used testors brush paint on the windows. When you add duplicolor engine enamel to testor brush paint it does this wierdness thing and actually smoothes out the surface. Unfortunately it changed the silver into grey. Now this would have been ok, but underneath the decals the paint didn't get touched by the duplicolor. Now it's grey with silver outlined decals. I give up though. I'm gonna start a new job on a different AE86.

I went ahead and posted the pics of this one, because it doesn't look like the end of the world. While I had higher expectations with this one, I still kinda like it's paint job. Not the best I've done, but I'll live with it.

I'm guessing since you stripped it you did the detailing? (blinkers and tail lights?) if so - you got a steady hand - good job man, keep going.

He really is blue. I picked him up from a novelty store. They always have stickers at a novelty store. I've got all kinds of crazy stuff I've been picking up, because I haven't picked up a printer yet to make decals with. I gotta keep my eyes open for something different. I don't like being stuck with the same stickers and decals that everybody else gets.

The blinkers and tail lights are hand painted. Thanks for the props. I always hand paint the details of all my cars. If I make a mistake, I use a toothpick to pick up the mistakes. When you're using slow drying paint, like testors, it's easier than you think.

My hands actually shake. I'm just one of those people. Nothing serious, but it's been an up-hill battle to learn to do this kind of thing. I actually use the shaking to make brush strokes. So, if anybody else out there has shaky hands, know that this doesn't limit your ability if you practice to overcome it. With these shaky hands, I also do fet mods and other tiny jobs. My specialty is emergency medicine, and I suture wounds and give IV's in the back of a moving ambulance with no problem. I actually got an IV in on a person's hand while they were having a grand mal siezure in the back of an ambulance. Took 2 tries, but I got it. Well, enough tooting my horn.

Nice hachi, uhh.......hachi. I've never seen a blue tweety bird. Kinda dead looking. I like it. I've had bodies that did that to me. I stripped em down, re-painted, stripped down and re-painted to the point I'd get pissed and throw them away..
