I always liked when they paint the trim the body color on old muscle cars. Gives them a sportier look, but when painting bits, I was afraid people would think I was just being lazy and taking the easy way out, so I always detailed the trim.
I got a hold of a GTO body, and I decided this was the look I wanted for this body, for 2 reasons. After this year, this body style became the Firebird. The Firebird became something between a muscle car and a sports car, so I think the sportier look is appropriate for this transistional period car, and also because I was being lazy, and this was the quickest way to paint it.
I also shaved the door handles, and painted the rear bumpewr to add to the smooth look.
It's sitting atop the SE chassis my 'Cuda was on, hence the wheels, but I think they work.

I'm just the opposite... I'm all about chrome, especially on OG rides... I remember reading Hot Rod whan the "monochromatic" paint everything craze blew up in the '80s and just hating on it lol...
Every once in a while, a car would pop up that pulled it off right somehow... in this months issue lol, this is that ride...
I guess what I'm trying to say is, great work man... you pulled that look off right.

I think you hit on to something. I hated that monochromatic thing too during the 80s. Especially on the Euro luxury cars where the trend started, and even more on the the Cali bugs and minitrucks that were everywhere. On a muscle cars and street rods though, I thought it worked, when pulled off right, and on the right car.
I think there's a time and place for everything. I try not to concern myself with trends, and let the car speak to me, and I felt this was the right car for this look. After the fact, I think it's perfect. So I'm glad you guys agree, thanks.

My uncle would definitely appreciate that ride. Every car he has ever owned he painted black....everything was painted black. He is putting together a killer '69 Impala station wagon hotrod as we speak....everything is black....everything.

I don't know if you noticed but the car is a dark green. You might have noticed but all you talked about up there was a black car.

Ok, now I definately need to take new pics.
It's a dark, almost midnight blue. The picture has a yellowish tinge, because I moved the light really close. I was trying to bring out the blue, so it wouldn't look black in the picture. I guess I screwed up.

Now that I look at it I can see the blue in it a little bit.

Damn I thought it was a dark metallic gray... like gunmetal or something...
You know what... looking again, I see the blue, definately in the seams and a few other places where the lighting didn't totally wash it out...
I'm just starting to mess with all of the lighting and stuff taking pics... I got a lot more to learn... where's hue with that tutorial lol?

I knew it wasn't black, I was just making the point that he liked his cars mono-colored like that. I thought it was dark green too.....nice clean paint job regardless of the color.
Oh...I almost forgot...Crusty is a cracker bitch.

Looks Blue on my monitor, I thought it was just the wheels that looked yellow.
It's a hard color to capture, I think would look good in some indirect sunlight. I'll have to experiment more. I'm always in too big of a hurry to experiment with my pics, and what works for one car, doesn't seem to always work for another.

That is one beautiful car CD. I'm loving the dark jade green with the gold tinted wheels. Just Beautiful.
