Sup fellow pimps,

Heres my stash of bit clones & bits. None of them work, mainly because of crap soldering & snapped steering wire. Now is there anyway to fix snapped wire this thin? I have a wide range of rims, axles, tires, chassis, susspensions, motors, gears ect so I want to get atleast 2 chasis alive. Most of these are clones but some have realy fast motors, around the 3.2 range.

Nice little broken chassis collection you got there.

It sounds like you need a whole lotta help.

Try taking parts from the ones that work or partially work to build a full one that works.

yea I'd take sg's advice and use parts from each broken chassis to build a working one.

Hey ,
something just reminded me of my bit box under my bed , i have around 6 busted chassis , that wires came off the pcb , and i never can fix things using a s/iron , damn i wish i could get em runnin , i might try this on a day where i have lotsa lotsa time,

Thanks guys, how would I re-connect the steering wire? This stuff is realy fragile, and I know a soldering iorn melts it.

Could I possibley make a 4x4 bit using all the chassis? Or a streched car atleast?

Do you have bits or the clones that were swarming the UK at one time? We could help each other as we are in the same country.

Ill whip out the dremel & see what I can come up with tomorow. I need to get a chassi' with working steering & I may try a 4x4 mod with tripple cells, I have enough batts to do it. It's just finding the damn controllers. Theres a chassis there what came from the limited edition Humvee bit clone. It came a nice controller, & two bodys, a gloss black Humvee with a spare tire on the roof ( real ) , and a desert/army type body with a .30 cal turret on the roof that turns 360 degrees. Perty cool

get a soldering pin and then and light ly melt the solder pad where the wire goes and then lift the pin about 1 mm and then inset the steering wire into the liquidy solder. make sure ther is no coating on the end of the wire sof melt it off with the pin before hand...thats it in a nutshell. easier said than done yes but im sure you can do it with practice

I just make two hooks out of the ends of the wire. Hook themselves to each other and throw a dap of solder on the connection.

Two things;
1. Make sure you let the soldering iron touch the connection for a few seconds. You'll need to melt the enamel on the wire to get good current flow. Don't worry, you won't melt the wires. They're made of metal after all.

2. Use a dab of solder paste or flux at the new joint. The solder sticks to the paste or flux very well.

Now just ensure the fixed connection doesn't touch anything. Wrap a small piece of tape around it or something. It could possibly short stuff out.
