Pinkie 'n' Blackie

This was a quickie. Seriously, under an hour. I just drilled a hole in the front tab to mount the body. No trimming, shaving. Then mounted up the wheels, which is a piece of cake, when you're not worried about wrecking the old pins.

This is also very temporary. I have other plans for the wheels, but couldn't wait to see them mounted. For now I thought they'd match up with this pink body, for some West side lowrider style. I only bought the pink body, because I didn't realize they'd come in sets with clear bodies, and I thought it'd be nice to get a second to paint over, so I got pink.

Works well I think. I may just leave it for a while. I got some Testor's Grape Pearl. Purple flames maybe? Or how about a purple fade from the bottom?

I could see it really working, if you stuck on a Continental Kit, shave the mirrors, and paint the roof white. Maybe a little silver "chrome", fender skits... If you do purple, how about just the lower half to the beltline?

Looks pretty sharp!

Looks great CD. Damn your making short work of your new shit! I'm lovin it.

Hmmm, ya never know. I really dig Gassers, with their front ends all jacked up. I do also have this can of Grape Pearl. I really like the Grape Pearl. :???:

Turns out I did have to shave the inside of the rear fenders a bit, but that's just because of the Thunder Charger tire's square profile.

It is a nice color. Its like a fine metallic, that's almost pearl.

I'm tempted to clear coat it, give it some gloss, but I don't know how paint lays on these bodies yet.

Pinkie's cousin Blackie decided to join the party. (I'm real clever with the names, huh?)

I was racing Pinkie around, and it handled good, because its low, but it is a bit heavier and liked to throw its weight around. So I decided do up my other 57 for an evenly matched pair.

I had mentioned I mounted these by drilling out a hole for a Xmod screw.

In case you were wondering if the hunk of metal up front effected the magnetic steering, it doesn't seem to phase it all. If anything, since the screw is centered, it helps it might help it center better. Out of curiousity I pulled the front end apart, and the screw is indeed helping pull the magnet to the center. Kind of a bonus, I think, so far...

I tried my hand at detailing one of these bodies. Kinda tricky, because alot of the details that are supposed to be there are missing, and I'm not really the greatest detailer, but here's what we got, before I got frustrated.

Oh yeah, and I lowered the front end about a 1/16th of an inch, just enough to make it sit level, and when I went to drive it, it was all messed up. Turns out the sides were dragging on the ground, so I had to raise the rear tab to get it off the ground. Funny thing is, it still looks about the same height as Pinkie.

Wow these are looking good makes me want to get mine detailed out I like the little details you put on yours like the back lights, the front badge and the headlights nice touches!

I also like how you used the screw to attach yours I actually made brackets for mine in the front (the Black one) and cut the screw mount off! Should have done it your way! The other bodies I will!
