an exercise in minimalism. ZZMT Crawler
didnt use a whole lot of parts, but this worked out well for a crawler.
2 xmod bearings
1 lipo
1 zzse pinion gear 6tooth
1 zzse transfer gear blue, for slow crawling speed/high tq.
pretty much just keep cutting until it works.

all 4 wheels touching.

bearings, one to stabilize front, one to stabilize rear, ca'd in place. aluminum tape wrapped around the driveshaft to make it slightly thicker so that it snugly fits the xmod bearings.

next step is a spring suspension/body mount and to fill the wheels with BB's for weight. so far it is going well.

thanks guys.
i'll get some clearer pics tonite.
I'll have to calculate the new rear end gear ratio, but I suspect it's about
100:1? +/-
I'm using the red zzmt motor btw.
EDIT: Slightly better pics. but eh. sorry. I need real light, not the floor lamp.
overhead shot of the gear setup

Front bearing is glued to the housing. lets the driveshaft ride true without clunky left/right motion of the front chassis.

The whole front chassis will rotate around itself without hitting anything.
(not with the steering motor in place. of course)

Might be able to see the aluminum exhaust tape I wrapped around the
driveshaft to fit the bearings.

i'll get some video later tomorrow.

Only the rear bearing is pivot, the front bearing is to locate the driveshaft and keep the front end stable. I did not want any lateral pressure on the driveshaft and diff gears, as lipos can get quite beastly.Maxximum Attack wrote:Wait a minute,

There's nothing for the area between them to do. Is there?![]()
What is your reasoning behind using 2 bearings?
Oh yeahway to break out of NOOB '05.
