Hey,

I finished these hot rides a couple of weeks ago, but I have been too busy working on school. So I didn't get the chance to post the pictures. The first list of pictures are from my modded VW beetle. It is the first one I actually modded. It has a whole new widebodykit, aggresive headlights, new rearview window and I removed the sidewindows. The second list is of a modded Subaru Impreza Clone. It has a cool paintjob, a new wing which I took from my porsche gt2, wide fenders in the back. Just check it out.

I didn't have time yet to perform a wheel mod so they are lying on a pullback chassis.

Are these your first mods?
If so for a first timer not bad its good you took the time to start modding all the great modders started somewhere!

A little constructive criticism next putty job make sure to sand it smoother before adding paint. Don't rush it just because you want to get it done many putty jobs take time and many sanding.

But like I said good work for a new modder keep it up and you will just get better and better.

I know. That's why I cut down on the putty work with the subaru. It is hard to get the putty right .

Here was my first putty job. I made it look better on a picture than it looks close up. If you look close you can see I had the same difficulties that you had.



The guys here taught me a thing or two, so I'll pass on what I learned.

Sand with 400 grit sand paper at first. Then throw a coat of primer on it. The primer will help you see all the rough spots. Then whip out the 1000 grit sand paper and smooth it out. Throw another coat of primer on and look for more rough spots. If there's still some rough, sand some more. Keep doing this until it's smooth as hell. Then put your paint on.

Also, I use odd-ball stuff to put the paint on first. Like a piece of packaging. I've actually got a ton of old kit-racers that are just waiting around for this. This way I get to see how the paint goes on first. Every paint is different and goes on a litle different than the last. Testing out the paint on something else first will give you a good idea of how to get it to set nicely on the project car. Gives you something to do while you're waiting for the putty to dry. I'll also recomend Dupli-color car paint from an Autozone, Wallmart or Pep-Boys. They've got more colors than you can shake a stick at and the paints work pretty good on plastic car bodies.

This is my last paint/body job on a bit.


As you can tell, practice makes perfect. So, keep practicing. Your first job aint too shabby. I can tell you have the nack for this.
