Now that I have my house, I'm planning on building a decent sized track to race my micros on....but before I could do that, I needed a worthy whip....
Looks stock other than pullbacks right?
But this is Bitpimps, so I had to come up with sumthin....

Almost ready to go, I just need to add the charging plugs
Might have some time to work on it tonight. I'll shoot a test vid to see if this sucker is speed worthy. Haven't had much time to finish it this week.
Thanks to sat4life27 for the slot car axle idea....

That looks killer. Did you do the body too, or did it come like that?
I love your chassis design, but I'm curious how the acceleration is considering its direct drive. Have you calculated the gear ratio?

The shell was from the Super Perfection set I won from last 04's custom blowout contest. I've been busy at work this week, so I haven't had a chance to test it, but I'm sure it won't suffer that annoying lack of steering one way from having the drivetrain on one side. I don't really know much about gear ratios, so I'm sorta trial by error..........which is how I do most of my projects.

Nice work!
How's it run?
Need some foams on there.
I tried something similar a while back, then the project took a turn for the worse. I used gears from a slot car. Then I cooked a couple of boards, crappy soldering skills on small stuff.

to calculate the gear ratio just divide the spur gear by the pinion.
eg: 30t spur/6t pinion
30/6 = 5
gear ratio = 5:1

from the photo is looks like a 7 tooth pinion mated to a 25 tooth stock Life-Like crown gear...ratio 3.57:1
If anyone is interested in giving this a try let me know, I've got a box full of old Life-Like cars in various states of completion I'd donate to projects.

If that's accurate, that's about like the red KIT racer gear, if I remember correctly. It's a little tall, but with dual cells (and maybe mosfets for torque), it should be just fine for large tracks.
