My new TTTT
Ok guys , I've been wanting this truck since late 2003 when it was built , and have been trying to persuade dave to sell it for almost that long. After all I ended up buying it , It's being shipped out to me on thursday. It's much smaller than the MAN 5T models , and even smaller than the unimog
I need to install a lipo , buy a charger , and buy a micro receiver , but more importantly , I need to learn about li-po's first , allthose these are very small cells , they can still cause me and my surrounding injury
Well , Enjoy the pictures , and would love to hear your comments Expect more when I receive it , as im currently working on my parcourse
Going for it up the hill

The gearbox is really awsome !

It fits inside the bed of the MAN truck

Comments please

Lipos aren't as dangerous as you think as long as you treat them with a little respect. People have burnt their houses down with them, but that's because they tried to charge a lipo with a NIMH charger or something.
Don't bang them, burn them, discharge them fully, short them, charge them inproperly or wire them incorrectly.

Cause I ride around town on my low-rider bicycle.

hmm , I can avoid most of that , but I dont know alot about electronics.
Call me stupid , but how do you short a battery ? , And if im using just 1 single cell , is there a specific way to wire them ?
I didnt want to start a whole new thread about my lipo phobia
, so I hope you dont mind my questions.
I've just bough an apache charger that I found on trademe (like ebay , for new zealand). Can charge at 80-110 and up , I was told to charge at 100mah , So should I go with 80 or 110 ? Im thinking 80 to be safe.
Just to find the cells for cheapish now , Only need 2 as I also am getting a 1/87 onroad truck with the deal.

"shorting" is when you connect both the positive and negative ends of the battery together. Do not even accidentally do this on a lipo.honda_s2000 wrote: Call me stupid , but how do you short a battery ? , And if im using just 1 single cell , is there a specific way to wire them ?
red wire to + (pos), black wire to - (neg)
it depends on the mah rating on the battery. Lipo's usually charge at 1C.honda_s2000 wrote: I've just bough an apache charger that I found on trademe (like ebay , for new zealand). for example.
0.5C=(the battery is 100mah, it can handle a charge at 50mah)
1C= (the battery is 100mah, it can handle a charge at 100mah)
2C=(the battery is 100mah, it can handle a charge at 200mah)
I have that apache charger, works well for the small lipo's. it does have auto stop when the battery is full, but if the lipo is damaged..there's a
posibility the charger wont detect it. never charge it unattended.
Best way to charge lipos is to check them every 10 minutes to make sure the lipo isnt getting HOT. They take 15-20 minutes to hit thermal runaway. so by checking every 10, you can make sure you dont burn the place down.
