BCG - VW New Baja

Post by Tony.T »

Yo !

Everyone had probably seen the VW New Beetle and the BCG version :

This car should be the descendant of the first VW Beetle designed during the 2nd World War.
So VW called this Beetle by the "New Beetle". But this last had nothing about the meaning of "Volkswagen" in german, "People Car", because of the price. The New Beetle costed like the Golf Mk4, but it's less confortable.
Then the buyers choose the Golf. :-?

Now, it seems that VW had stopped the production of the New Beetle. What a pitty !
They don't know what we could do in modifying this ride !

That's why I work on BCG, because of the tiny size, it's easier and quicker to obtain a good looking New Beetle.

As you know, it's possible to repair a wreck like a VW air-cooled to get something like this :

First step, I mold a Tomy BCG New Beetle body. Then I work on a resin copy.

I cut every glasses and enlarge the "passage of wheels" (?). The New Beetle seems to be like an Off Road car.

And the rear engine has been molded by using the Green Stuff. Exactly like the first Beetle.

The original is still in the box, but I need to create more and more customs. So I must mold it to work on resin after that.

That's cool. You're the first one I've seen make a baja out of the new beetle, besides me. Have you seen mine? Its interesting to see differents takes on the same car. I like how you did the air cooled engine, to make it look old school. I kinda just thought, "What if somebody gave the New Beetle a baja makeover."

@ you all, thank very much ! 8-)

@ crazydave, yep ! I've already seen your "New Baja", great paintjob man ! :-o

And you're right about your last sentence, it was my thought before I do it. I really love VW air-cooled, but some New Beetle in real life are very poor when the driver want to customised his ride.

The only New Baja I've seen on Internet was that :

Not really cool than that :

I prefer those last old school Baja because they look fun ! But the New Baja I've found are too much stock.

The old schools are the best.:-o They are like a blank canvas. The new ones can't go offroad as easily, without extensive upgrades to do so.
