For those that are interrested, KB Toys (store) has the KITT car on sale 2/$5.00.
For you newbies they have a 2.2 or 2.6 motors that in my opinion are the best I've driven (no matter what Hog says), heat sink, Tomy battery, wheels & tires that are 1/64 RC compatable. The chassis/charger is good for breakin-in new motors. KB also have the Ralley Racers (Shen Qi Wei) for $9.99.

Yeah Hog but these KITT motors ain't your average BCG/MS motor. The 2.2 outrun the Tomy/MS 2.6. There had been a lot of discussion on these motors (in my pre Pimp days) when I first heard about them and it was concurred that these motors are made for full power, balls out running. No power limitations (PCB), just straight from the battery juice. I guess that's why they run so well. Pick one up and try it (if you haven't already)

i have and the orange ended one was pretty weak even in a dual cell.
however thats a great price for a heatsink battery and those gear ratios.

Another thing I'll let you guys in on since you don't shop at my KB Toys... The tires that come in the Slalom and Energi cars are the best tires you can get for fronts. The best compound with just the right amount of grip, but not too much. They're kinda inbetween a tomy grey hard ribbed and a medium, but closer to the hard. And they're black so they look pimp. If you don't want them, send them to me. I'll trade generously for them...
I've also found lately that with the mosfet mod and a good motor, those KIT racer gear combos are really useful. You can hit incredible top speed without spinning your wheels all over the place when you start.

I bought one of these today and I can't get anything to work from it...first of all I screwed up and got the hard tires...so all I can do with them is spin...the back axle doesn't fit my Big Lots clone or my Rally Racer so I can't use the gears (which is really what I bought the KIT racer for). The engine has very bad connection and won't run in my cars unless I'm pushing down on it. Am I doing something wrong or are the parts toally useless...right now I have a heatsink I can use and that's it!

Settle down, grasshopper, you're ok. To get the rear axle to work, you need to get an x-acto or similar razor blade and cut the "nub" by about 3/32" (just a little bit). Then it will fit. Don't forget to use the KIT racer pinion and idler gears as well. The motor is the same size as all the others, perhaps the heatsink is bent improperly? Also, try rotating it so the little metal tab is towards the front of the car. The hard tires are pretty useless unless you use them for fronts on a zipzap, then they're great.
And you can get that battery out of the KIT racer chassis and use it to make a dual-cell.

Hell if you are getting them for 2/$5.00 then you can find a use for the parts.
I saw them around here once but they didn't last long

What happens if I cut too much of the plastic piece off the axle? Think it'd be worth goin back to get the soft tires? Or are the tires that are coming on my LXX Auto Modellista Char-G good enough? I have serious traction problems and all my cars start spinning uncontrollably at times. Stupid laminate floors
Does the little battery cover pop off or do you need to crack it open? I didn't really look that much but I didn't see any visible way to get the battery out.
Anyone have any idea what the best tire configuration is for a car that slides and spins?

Use pullback tires
I have a car that spins and flips well I had a car that did. Added pullbacks today and it drives like a dream

Is there anyway to get that green/blue gear off the back axle so I can use it on my current axle? I'd like to be able to use it with my current axle so the front and back wheels match. I may just end up going and buying the Microsizer hop up kit for $9 to get those gears..

Huh?! Thanks for confusing the n00b.
I'm guessing if I twist and pull I'll need to use some model glue or something to get them back on?
