Zip Zap Trans Am Body Kit

Post by Sdog »

I just happened to stop by a local Radio Shack today and came across a new "Past and Present" Body Kit. The Kit contains a Black "77 Trans Am and a Yellow '02 Collecters Edition Trans Am. These Are not SE bodies and do not have lights.

The detailing on the bodies is very nice. The sides of the '77 body are a bit tight on my SE chassis, but fits with just a little coaxing. The black wheel set for the '02 looks pretty authentic (right style and color), but the wheelset for the '77 are not the gold honeycomb style wheels that where on these cars. Instead you get a set of gold rally style (I think that is what they are called) wheels, which look good nonetheless.

I can't find these on the Radio Shack website, but they are out. Hey CJ, you are usually the pimp with lowdown on the Shak stuff ahead of time....you on vacation or something? :-)

Hog....are you sure that isn't the Camaro Past and Present body kit you are referring to? I just started getting in to these in December, but I don't recall seeing a Trans AM body kit with a '77 before now.

Yeah...sorry for the confusion with the pic. I was trying to get it to show in the thread, but it wasn't working. So I provided the link.

Exactly, Smokey and the Bandit Styleee. I have to hand it to the Shak, they have been putting out some nice bodies lately. I love the muscle cars...but now I would like to see some nice exotics.

Nothing on the RS webstie about the body set or the wide tire set either{ my local rs still doesn't have gto's }. This is really starting to suck!

filelicker;

I live outside of Philly and have about four RS's all within about 20 minutes of me. I have noticed that the RS's in the areas that are more densley populated get new stuff first and more of it. My closest RS, which is like 3 minutes from me gets stuff several weeks after the stores in Philly.

The guys in my local store told me that when they do get new stuff, they get like two of them, when they sell one, they get sent two more. So I check a RS at a larger mall near my workplace. They seem to get things in fairly quick and have a large stock.

Did you try doing a stock search by zipcode on the RS website?

I couldn't get the # for the body set to come up on the rs website at all.The wide tire set comes up if you punch in the # but doesn't show any other way.

1 within a hundred miles that has any zipzap stuff{ the one in the mall}
and one in tiny town 80 miles away but no r/c stuff{ an rs inside a another store} so I am looking at driving 300 miles roundtrip to bismark or 600 to fargo or grandforks , it's just not worth it at this time.Once we move I will have access to better radioshacks closer to me.So right now I just buy shitloads of mini r/c stuff off of ebay.I just got 2 ms lancer speedsets , ms rx7 , ms celica, clone semi ,bit gloria,bit 3 body skyline set, clone police car, 10 more hummers and 4 different tanks..It makes up for it , that I can't pass up a great deal ! but I am running out of places to hid most this shiat from my wife , if she knew I was getting this much stuff in she'd flip.

Damn dude....thats a lot of shiat! I don't have a wife to deal with, so I don't have that problem. Then again...I'm a 33 year old single man that collects and plays with little cars...maybe that is a problem :???:

I actually just started using ebay myself. You come across a lot of stuff on there you might not see otherwise. Right now I'm diggin' all those employee giveaway and promotional bits that pop up on ebay once in a while. I figure those will be fairly rare, so I keep those puppies new in the package.

There is a fair amount of zip zap stuff on ebay, including the new cuda/mustang kits....but no wheel mod kits or the new kit I just mentioned. the problem with the new zip zap stuff on ebay is that the sellers sell them close to or at the price they cost in at the Shak...so you might as well order them from the shak website.

Where ya movin' to?
