GPM Alloys: Xmods Evo Truck Group Buy

Post by Namuna »

I just recently got a Hummer Evo and I'm lovin it. Now I want to deck it out in all Black Alloy, but it looks like I jumped on the bandwagon late and missed out on CJ's Group Buy.

So now I'm just trying to gauge who'd be interested in another group buy...Since I've got no decent experience with GBs, I would be limiting this to ONLY Xmods Evolution TRUCKS parts

I've put together a price sheet (as quoted to me from GPM directly) HERE

Keep the following in mind (some of this info came from info given by CJ, so credit to him for that):
1. Those prices are the BASE prices, BEFORE whatever costs of shipping from GPM (Hong Kong).
2. Once the quantity ordered for an item reaches 10 or more (doesn't matter if it's different colors), a 35% discount is given (The WHOLE reason for doing a Group Buy!)
3. The Shafts, Shocks, Dogbones and Diffs (for Evo Trucks ONLY) are the SAME for front or rear! This will make getting to the discount MUCH easier!
4. The Dogbones are 14mm and will NOT work properly if you're using a Lift Kit.

My goal with this GB is to come out of it with a full set for my Hummer. So this GB cutoff will be once we've got enough orders to fullfill a full set at full discount (at least 10 of all the items). Or by 7/14/06, whichever comes first.

If you want in, then list what you want, in what colors and what quantities...But ONLY say so if you're SERIOUS.

If there's enough interest, then we're a go.

Thanks.

I can only offer you this advice. Don't do a group buy with GPM. They will fuck you over on the timeline mate bigtime.

CJ puts orders in with them a lot, they can be months and months before the turnaround from GPM in shipping the order to you.

I can't strongly suggest it enough but just by your GPM alloy from these places.

www.undergroundxmods.com
www.rcmart.com

undergroundxmods is a reputable seller. He's well known in the xmod forums and is US based.

Trust me, whilst you may think you're saving costs, let me ask you this. Is a $5 cost saving on a diff worth waiting an extra 2+ months to score it?

I most definately muthafuckin' think not mate...

I put an order for $100USD worth of shit from the FIRST OG GROUP BUY and have yet to receive any of it :( This order was placed over 6 months ago.........

Yeah, you've got a point there fa-toot. I ain't got much of a personality for wait'n.

The thing I don't get though is why can't I find anyone selling the GPM Alloy Gearboxes for the Trucks (XET012A, XET013A, XET13B)??

I searched google, and ebay and nobody's got any of the gearboxes in ANY color (not just the Black I want). Are they THAT hot an item? Or do the stores just not want to stock 'em?

You could grow a nice cash crop that would make your typical resident in downtown Bogata jelous in the time it takes for GPM to release parts to re-sellers after posting the pics on their website.... :o

It is not the stocking part it is the availability from GPM that is the issue.

I had more people the first round after Drive line parts for the trucks than anything else. In the second round with a focus on Gearboxes I didn't have a single person contact me about Truck Gearboxes. More than enough cars to get a discount but no trucks.

I moved my dates many times before I finaly decided on a cut off. Even then you get the last minute people that contact you the day you submit the order asking if its too late and say "I'll paypal you right now".

If GPM does you the same way they do everyone else your order can take a month to process.

1) You submit the order.
2) They email you a week later that they got it and give you an invoice and ask for 50% before they tell you shipping cost or even it can be shipped.
3) You send them the 50% and pay the money transfer or Master Card fee
4) 2 weeks go by and you email them asking if they got the money. Yes they did but now your total is 5% higher than before because you want EMS shipping.
5) You send them the money again Paying the fee again.
6) 6+ weeks after the order was submited they let you know that 90% of the colors you want will take 2 months to do. But if you want to get Blue or Silver they have them ready next week.

I pay $15 everytime I have to send them money from my bank. More if I choose MasterCard.

Best deal realy if you want it is skip the GB and submit exactly what you want from them for yourself. And ask them for the total including the shipping via EMS the first time. For a full set of everything at GPM prices you are looking at arround $200 with shipping from GPM.

You know, I've been of a difference between heart and mind with the Alloying up of my Hummer.

My heart WANTS the alloy sexiness BIGTIME. But my brain fights back knowing that I don't get a chance to run the car that often and that the Alloy parts are gonna cost AT LEAST 3X the amount of the truck (INCLUDING the regular upgrades I've already put into it!!!).

After what you guys are saying, it's getting EASIER and EASIER to cool my jets man.

Don't we have anyone in the US making Alloys for the Xmods? Like who are these Hot Racing guys, they've got some stuff.
