4 link chassis conversion for a vintage 1/32 Tamiya Lunchbox

Finally picked up an old 1/32 Tamiya Lunchbox jr. Planned to convert to
R/C, but didnt want to hack up the original plastic as this kit isnt made
anymore.

So i'm working on a chassis that doesnt use any of the original tamiya parts.
Store didnt have enough ball links, so this is as far as i could get
with it tonite.

As far as electronics go, i'm waiting to see how well the miniclod works
out. Since i have to create the front gearbox/servo steering setup from
scratch, figure i might as well make two and go 4 wheel steering, plenty of
room.

Clint , have you ever had ahold of some SSMT 1/43 axles ?
I think you could make some kickass shit with them.
Allthough they are getting pretty rare now , I've sold a set with the trans and u-joints for about $60USD shipped.

, If you want a set I could poss work something out with you.

Nice work on that chassis man , do you actually stop working on rc shit ?

Occasionally I go to work, eat, sleep and poop. Not specifically in that order though.

My secret: I have a 2 hour drive to work, and 2 hours back...There's lots
of time to myself to just "think". Cutting things up and putting them back together is just a formality, so when i think of something, it's already
planned out and ready to go. Thats kinda why i'm all over the place
with projects. After designing something in my head, when i get home,
i have to git'er done, or i'll forget. I forget tons of crap..wife is always having to remind me.

I tend to focus on one thing and block out the entire world. I'll be in deep thought and i wont even hear you talking even if your were standing right next to me.

i am a massive geek.

nope no kids.
I work nights, so when i get home, my wife is still at work.
I'll wind down for an hour..walk the dog, mess with some r/c
or fly the blade. Then go to sleep. wife wakes me up when
she gets home.

anyway found some more 1/16th ball links...progressing nicely.

Ok, so now I'm pissed off because of that stupid Losi Micro-T (I keep telling myself that it's stupid, so I wont order one..I want that cute little
bugger sooooo bad)

anyway back on topic.

The first attempt at the chassis was too small to mount the electronics
I wanted. So I went back to the drawing board and came up with a
more traditional design.

This is much better. I gave it adjustable link positions so I can lay it in both Monster truck and Stadium truck formats(fuck you LOSI!).

Now onto the drivetrain.

This thing will drive right over the top of the micro-t when it's done.

I know this is an old topic but I wnted to know if u had gotton any more done on this project as I just got a nissian king cab JR 1/32 truck kit 2day and I am hope'ing 2 build a chassis and drive lines etc... to make it a rc truck...

just wanted to see how if u have made the front + rear ends of the chassis...

I've been making good progress on most of my projects now, just havent gotten around to taking pics.

Minor update. I've got about a million of those xray diffs..so might as well
put them to good use. Also propulse parts were on sale a while ago..so i
picked up a few sets of those titanium links.

Since the links are adjustable, the chassis will work on basically any body.
right now the wheelbase is set to that black F150. shorten the links and
it'll fit the tamiya 1/32's. The width is also adjustable(using the xray wheel inserts inside ssmt rims)

have a HPI modified 180 motor, spy and a hitec 81mg set to go in it.
Probably going 4 cell; 2 split over each axle.
