evos flip more than gen1?

Anyone noticing that these EVO's roll alot more than the Gen1? I was driving one the other day and it rolled like 4 times, while the gen1 I raced hardly ever up-ended. :???:
Flaw? What do you guys say?

Really?

I havent rolled a evo yet, and ive been racing on oval tracks with Z's.

Well, the camber in rear doesnt change the way the gen1 did. While negative camber can increase cornering grip, its only to a point. To much will cause sliding due to the reduced contact patch, like the gen1 did when the rear suspention was compressed. Maybe the increased grip in the rear has something to do with the rolling over.

Makes sense.
So some harder rear tires are in order then? :???: I really have to buy another tire kit and some rims, and start gluing these babies on.

i noticed this as well while testing one at my rs. ive flipped my gen 1 maybe twice in its lifetime and i flipped that evo like 5 times on in the store

Its probaly because of the stock stiff suspension. Barely absorbes anything.

Are they much faster than the gen 1's?
Cause I ride around town on my low-rider bicycle.

Yes they are, at least while all four wheels are on the ground. Sometimes with just two also. :smile:

Maybe it's just the speed and torque difference. My gen 1 Xmod has fets and a hot motor as well as a steering resistor fix. It will flip pretty easy.

WHICH, brings up a good point. I know gen 1 stock steering sucks balls. The EVO's may have better steering (I don't own one yet, but I've heard), which of course may make them flip more. I.E. Turn too hard at a high enough speed and even real cars flip. The gen 1's are just harder to flip because they have no turn radius. Tighten that turn radius and you'll flip more.

Yes, the Evo's have a much tighter turning radius, I've read its smaller that gen1's with the resister fix. This makes much more sense than the suspension, but I maintian it has some influence on the rolling.

I agree. The back of the chassis rolls/semi articulation or something from what I've read. They don't seem to have any dampers for that system either. Wouldn't this make one of the front wheels come off the ground in a hard turn. That alone would rearrange the weight dispacement and screw up balance.

It wouldn't be too hard to make a damper system for this. Or just epoxy the chassis so it can't articulate.

I was looking at an EVO today. I can't say I like the damper system. It looks week.

That's only for the trucks. The cars don't have a rear pivot. Even if the problem is in the steering, it can be tuned out :-o . Less traction in the rear and a suspension change should do the trick :-o

the evo cars don't twist like the trucks but they have a stupid sway bar type setup in the rear so that the whole chassis leans towards the outside of a turn. so it's already leaning over under normal conditions, add more speed or hit a bump and you're on the roof! :o

I just stuck a couple of screws in the holes on top to nearly eliminate the roll. I was just waiting for the warranty to expire in some way before i eliminated the pin inside.
