XMod question
Does anyone have any suggestions for me in terms of the XMod Evo line? I'm loving the 1/28 4x4 truck concept. The body isn't that big of a deal to me, 'cause I'm probably gonna go with a custom body anyway, but are there any differences between the H2 and the F-150? I read somewhere that the F-150 had some kind of a pivoting rear end, with independent rear suspension...does the Hummer have the same thing? Is this good or bad? Also, I'm planning on going straight away with the 4x4 upgrade, the lift kit and bigger rubber, but are there any aftermarket parts that may be better than the RS upgrades? Any suggestions or first hand experience would be great.

Only difference between the two are the bodies.
I own the yellow F-150 with all the hop-ups installed and have all the GPM alloy for the complete truck and car on the way, should be here in a day or so.
As of right now, the only aftermarket for the EVO Xmods are GPM and their aluminum parts.
Check this out for aluminum parts. Great deals!!!

There are some other things that might be out there. These just hit the market a few months ago, so everything is starting to pop up now.
You can pick-up some CF rod and make yourself a sweet lightweight driveshaft.
You'll have to get the bearings from VXB/Irvineman on Ebay.

Good someone mentioned the competition.Tuner1989 wrote:Hot racing released some aluminum parts on rcmart and the bay recentley.
Lets compare Rear Knuckles.
HOT-RACING

GPM

As you can see both CAN NOT use stock brake disks. The GPM is thicker and appears stronger. HR has a twist on Brake disk like cap to hold the axle in VS 3 screws to hold the bearings/bushings. Let me tell you what you don't see in the HR version. The HR version comes with Allen head screws were the GPM clearly comes with Phillips. No need to buy more tools with GPM parts.
Also with the group buy going down you can save almost 50% off the ebay prices on the GPM parts.

Great info guys, thanks a bunch. That group buy sounds like a killer hook up. Regarding the bearings, I will definately pick up a set. sg, You mentioned bearings from VXB/Irvineman. Are they better or cheaper than the ones from RS?
I do have a couple other questions though. Can you swap out crystals from the X Mods and use a better radio? The one that comes with it looks like a freakin' toy, and from what I've gathered, it is kinda a piece-o-crap. Also, are there any other tires and/or rims that will work on an X-Mod? Something like Kyosho Overland/Monster tires or wheels, or something similar? If not a direct swap, could they be modded do you think? I guess I'll find out when I pick one up. I was gonna go to the Shack last night, but didn't get around to it. Hopefully I'll be able to score one tonight.

For you to use hobby grade Txs, you have to change the PCB, read this thread and you'll see what can and has been done. Doing it to an EVO may work out even better

Sssshhhhhweeeeeeet. May have to look into that. Dude, reading that thread, you guys must have some FAST li'l mofo's. That's killer, fo sho.
I'm thinking with my EVO, I'm gonna stay slow and low (geared). I'm all about crawlin' in 1/28. I used to spend hours just trying to get my Overland around in 2wd, just creeping, so the option of 4WD gets me going. I'm getting pretty jazzed about this.

This guy that I work with just got the EVO truck with all the upgrades.. It fuckin flies man..
He can plow through more shit than me being he has 4wd, and my OL is only 2wd. My OL does seem a bit smoother than his, so when we race,(almost every night) I get cleaner lines than he does, which works out perfect. He's running nimh batts, and I'm still on alkalines, so after the first 10 minutes, I start dropping power, and he doesn't. It comes down to my clean lines.
