The heatsink that comes with the stage 2 motors is in fact quite beefy metal, and if you've been running your car hard, don't open it up and touch it, you'll burn yourself (seriously).
The cool thing about all the upgrades to me is they all work as advertised. I don't have the AWD kit, because I like RWD handling, and I don't have a use for the foam tires yet. Everything else works well and seem worth the dough.

So far I have not been able to get any parts. So far it looks like a new kit for a parts car.crazydave wrote:That is a big question.SuperFly wrote:The big question will be whether or not Radio Shack will sell individual chassis parts or if I need to buy a new starter kit to get a steering knuckle.
Hey CJ, you out there?
Damn those evil mind controlling corporate mongers

ya ive had this thing for about 2 weeks now and i have umm 80bucks into it?
car = well duh
batteries = may as well buy em when you get the car cuz you will go back the next day if not.
lights = all i could afford last week and im even poorer this week so i guess ill get the motors next week.
but really for 75bucks you have an easily rechargeable car that drives like it should. and like dave said. its like actually repairing something instead of filling in cracks with epoxy to fix major flaws or whatever. i see myself one of these days adding more voltage but not for a little bit cuz i havnt totally got bored with this thing stock yet.

really? what exactly does it doe as far as performance goes?
this little thing has cost me $89 plus tax... I've gotten so far, the light kit, batts and suspension upgrade. I think that the suspension upgrade is a pretty good deal. I've got medium fronts and soft rears, and this thing handles amazingly well. the only problem i have so far is that my best surface for driving is my driveway, and so therefore my tires are pretty worn out. but i still love it!

It also makes things easier on your motor so it don't get as hot. Superfly was just saying how hot the stage 2 motor gets. I would say bearings would be a good idea before moving up to the stage 2 motors.hogjowlz wrote:this will result in quicker acceleration and probably higher speed and a smoother ride.

That's what I was thinking, but it's really hard finding bearings direct, I've found tons of manufactures, but the only ones I've found so far that sell direct are www.bocabearings.comhogjowlz wrote:whats the dimensions on the bearings? im sure there are higher quality ones out there waiting to be discovered by one of us.
I checked the installation manual for the bearings at radioshack.com, and the bearings are all the same size. You need 14 of them. I measured my bushing and they are 1/8" ID x1/4" OD.
Cheapest ones I could find were these at 3.50:
Budget Econo Power
The next cheapest, that seemed like they might be an upgrade were these at 4.95:
Green seals
The do offer discounts for large orders. I'm gonna keep lookin', but I'll probably just settle for the ones RS sells.

i asked my brother but forgot most of the sites but they have a bunch and he says they are cool to deal with.
lets hope they are english measurment cuz metric seems to be a lot more expensive
About Tapered-Roller, Needle-Roller, and Thrust Bearings
Radial Load? Load is perpendicular to the shaft.
Thrust Load? Also known as an axial load, load is parallel to the shaft.
Tapered-Roller Bearings? Work well for combined radial and thrust loads as well as heavier radial loads.
Needle-Roller Bearings? The needles provide an ample contact area for supporting heavy radial loads.
Thrust Bearings? Use for thrust loads only.

The mini z bearings come 7 to a pack, only 3 of them can be used on an xmod. Dinball has a set of 10 for $10 that'll work.
http://www.rcmart.com/catalog/product_i ... ts_id=1889
Tiny is also releasing some sets of xmods bearings.
I still don't have any bearings in my car, still waiting to see what Tiny comes out with. Unfortunatly I'm getting kinda antsy over here and will probably end up buying a couple sets of them dinball bearings.
