If you want to polish the heatsink the best thing for you to do is the Inside. Polishing will level out the small pits inside that contact the motor you will improve the way that heatsink will work. Also remove the part of the label that would be under the heatsink and polish that part of the motor. The better the metal to metal contact is the cooler your motor.

Yeah, and if you are going to go that far... while you're in there, slather the whole inside of it with heat sink compound to kick the function of it up yet another notch...

And still do the outside of it for the bling factor :-)

That's a great idea. I did mine a few days ago. I like the look. I'm also trying to lighten the chassis as much as I can. Soon I'll be able to get the lithium kit. and then she'll have the go along with the show

Hey umm, it's my day off and I don't want to exert the effort to do a search, got a link to that mod?

Dave, it's basically just putting 10k resistors inline on the brown and orange servo wires, looks to be pretty easy... Here's the link...

http://www.fragmanworld.fr.st/

EDIT... it won't link directly to that page... it's on the "presentation et prepOration de la XMOD" page lol

Hey betty.k... did you trim the stops off of the chassis, too? When I get around to doing mine, I'm just going to go for broke and do the resistors, trim the stops, and do the tie-rod mods, too...

Cool thanks Bird.

So increasing the resistance increases the pot's travel?

I'm not sure I understand what the mods does.

it's in japanese but you get the idea from the pics.
i did the lot, cut off the nobs, bent and trimmed the tie rod.

dave, this mod basically makes the servo turn more (further) than a stock one.

i followed hog's advice and shortened the knuckles, haven't broken another since! :-)
i did the heat shrink trick on the drive cups, i'm surprised how much strength this adds. enough for me to break a universal joint anyway!
i pulled out my iwaver porsche body and mounted it with velcro on the sides and an extension tab up front. i'm amazed how solid this setup is, much easier than trying to get that clip positioned right. and i was able to mount it really low, about 1 - 2 mm below the middle of the chassis with no wheel contact. but the wheelbase looked too narrow, the body looked silly being that much wider than the wheels.
so i turned the wheels inside out. much phatter! some washers are needed to stop the wheels rubbing on the hubs but this is a total dream setup! corners like it's on rails (bumpy ones!)

Dude, you got a style all your own... that thing looks like one bad mamma jamma. Flipping your wheels around was fuckin' genius, they look lots better that way... man, that's just badass.

Very cool body. I like the Porsche shells (especially considering I just ordered one yesterday) I also will have a brand new NSX shell, so I'm pretty excited. On a "lighter" note I managed to shave off about 3 grams of fat from my xmod chassis. She's gettin leaner.

What can I say the bitch needed to lose some.
