The way I was figuring I would go about it is I would first do them all with whatever I was going to be cleaning them with(more likely a solvent than a lubricant... I kinda like the electrical contact cleaner idea), and then lay them all on a clean rag or paper towel... then I would clean out the blaster thingy and put them all through again, only this time I'd be spraying with canned air like "dust off" or something like that... and then onto another fresh towel where they would all get liberal doses of powdered graphite.

I imagine that whenever someone from r&d at Shaq corporate comes in the board room and lays an idea on the table, the first thing that happens when he leaves the room is some suit says "OK... now what corner can we cut here to minimize investment and maximize profit?" Boom. Overpriced low-grade bearings.

@hog... I hear ya on the quality of some Swiss bearings... those are some smooooooth rollers.

:???: Maybe we need to start an email campaign to try and get Boca (best RC bearings money can buy) to start making xmod and mini z bearing sets...

Holy shit!!!

Yeah... nevermind then... I'll just keep rolling the dice with the Shaq ones... they might not be high quality, but they beat the hell out of plastic bushings...

Guys!

ausmicro.com is now in the business of putting together our our bearing sets for Z's .... If it's true that Z rear bearings 63ZZ fit in an X-Mod no worries how many would ya need?

16 in a set? 15?

They the only bearings used?

Thats for the closed ones not the gay open ones.

Whats the RS ones worth? Ie what kinda price do we have to get near to be competitive including shipping to your door?

Should I be looking at those VXB sets as a benchmark?

By the looks of it I can kill their pricing totally ;)

They're the same size as the two in the pod of a mini z... You need fourteen to make a set...

Sealed eh? And shipped for a price competitive with the Shaq ones? I'm interested... and I'm sure others will be as well... Keep us posted.

What is da price ov da Shaq ones?

MR63ZZ is the size were talking bout - shielded, just like those in the motor pod of a Mini-Z

Looking at some very rough prices here USD16.50 paid by PayPal at your door? Top of the range Japanese Bearings precision tool bearings are about 150% more in cost price.

Any Aussie wanna test out a set for AUD20 shipped.

i don't wanna burst any bubbles, so sorry if i do.

the rear bb's from mini z's are wider than xmod ones, wide enough for them to be a hindrance. i tried some (4)out on the outer most wheel points and they protruded outwards about .5mm so having a full set will realign the placement of some parts, if it all fits together that is.

sorry aaron!

BUT these bearings are much better quality than the shack ones (USD$19.95 i think?) and some modifications would get these babies in.
i used to be cool

*nods* The bearings that the Shaq are selling are actually MR63 (without the ZZ) and as such are only 2.5mm wide vs 3mm for a 63ZZ

VXD sells a set with 6 MR63 and 8 MZ63ZZ (or is it the other way around - the ones ph2t bought)

I'm sure I could do a RS Equivalent set of bearings (the MR63) for less again, and a hybrid setup for 'in between' $$

Betty you wanna try a set of 14x 63ZZ and see how they go?

Here's the deal, I can get prices to make up some sets, but I need to know exactly what bearings you need and would buy - so what do you Pimps want?

Combo sets?
All open Shaq Style ?
All closed?

You've seen that price for the closed.... Now tell me what and I'll get ya a final deal ;)

:???: Maybe that explains the wee bit of slop I had to shim out of my iwavers rear when I put the 2 xmod bearings that I had laying around in there...

Aaron... I'll look into the exact amounts needed for the combo sets, but I think you may have it right if I recall correctly... I believe the way it goes, you can only use the wide ones in the knuckles and the shaft carriers, and from what I understand, using them on the shaft totally eliminates all of the play/backlash and also supposedly quiets the drivetrain down a bit...

OK... shit... the site where I got my information says that the Shaq ones are 2mm and the wides are 2.5mm... now I'm all confused.

Either way... I think that once we have the sizes sorted out, the combo sets will be the way to go... sealed, of course.

Oh, and Aaron.... yeah... $16.50usd shipped is an awesome price...
