2009 Xmods Evo changes

Finally went into a R$ the other day and picked up a $29.99 Xmod Corvette and they gave me a Under car Lighting kit for free. Now those that have been here forever now I use-to work for R$ for 10 years and know a lot about their policies and products. This latest version of the cars have good, bad and ugly points.

Quality just feels cheaper and better at the same time! :???:

The case they come in looks a lot nicer since they removed the foam and use molded plastic to hold everything. The old foam was in my opinion better in that you could cut it to hold the car with the wheels on it and sill put everything in the case for safe transport. With this new design you might as well throw the thing out because it will not protect the car unless you screw the body back down, remove the wheels, and put everything back in exactly the way you found it. Including the extras screws, wheel nuts, and wheel wrench back in the plastic bag and tape it to the body.

The Corvette body was molded as two pieces. Only the rear end is screwed on. It does come with extra mirrors. The mirrors are a flexible plastic/rubber.

Chassis at first glance looks the same until you notice the lack of a Crystal. :sad:

Preset channels. Can't even change it on the controller. :sad:

With some de-soldering/soldering you can change the channel. :grin:

I still have yet to run it but based on the defect it has out of the case I doubt the steering works 100%. :sad:

The motor is COVERED in beeswax type epoxy to limit your chances of desoldering the motor and mod the motor. :???:

The battery cover now has a lock screw.?

The finish on this with the screws look like they were over torqued in some places with stress discolorations in the plastic around them.

I purchased the 65 mustang about a month ago, I'm really happy with it on the whole and the 16 step steering resolution makes a great sobriety tester :-)

Yes is runs but, as expected the steering sucks. When turning it is constantly trying to return to center. So I exchanged it. I'll have a chance next week to put that one together and try her out. If it works good I'll have to dig out some of my GPM parts and fit it up. :-)

Did learn that R$ is trying more to save money than help customers. They took it back almost no questions. So I made them understand that it was not worth reselling because of the broken steering. Manager told me that they would most likely though it away! :sad: So go to your local R$ as often as you can and ask if they have any broken returns they want to sell! Might make them start keeping defective returns for you.

Yeah, they usually toss the Zips and Xmods when they are returned as "defective". Or they just put them on display. That's how I got most of my Xmods.

What's the story on the blown up ceramic Cap on the board?

It's neat, how much magic smoke escaped?

Sorry went away for the weekend with the wife and kids.

The Cap was broken out of the box. And as expected it steering was trashed. Kept trying to return to center every time i turned.

I returned it and swapped it for another. Thursday I might get a chance to crack that one open.

Ha, i always thought the magic smoke was just a land rover thing :???:

With magic smoke, if it's full of the stuff, you're good to go!

It's when it escapes and you run out that you have problems. I can't find anywhere that'll sell magic smoke to put back in...

What's the verdict with these? Good or suck?

Fets mod required! Slower in forward than reverse!

Name change. They are no-longer "Xmods EVO" They are "Xmods Streets".
