Modular design allows you to combine multiple starter track sets together to create larger and more spectacular layouts

#2 Measurements:
They are 1:28 th scale and about 6" long.
Xmod Bearings are unflanged and unsealed. Measurements are .235" Outside Diameter x .115" Inside Diameter x .079 Thick. In mm it is 3mm ID x 6mm OD x 2mm Thick. Have been told some Mini-Z bearings will fit. Note 3mm x 6mm x 2.5mm will fit in most places and reduce play and improve performance.
Axles are also .115" in diameter or 3mm.
Long Drive shaft 2.97 X 81L
Medium Drive Shaft 2.97 X 77L
Short (if there is one) 2.97 X 73L
Wheel nuts are 2mm. Stock nuts are plastic. Most 2mm Lock Nuts should work. 2mm Lock nuts are used on the Mini-Z and the RS4.

#3 Remote:
The Xmods remotes that come with the cars are the ONE AND ONLY remotes that will ever work with the cars unless you replace the electronics inside (Receiver/Speed Control/Servo/Controller). Xmods Controllers with the same crystal WILL control other Xmods with the same Crystals.

#5 Mini-Z parts:
Bodies: Will NOT fit with out modification to the body mounts. Not all Mini-z bodies wheel basses are the same. So you may need to stretch or shorten the chassis on a Xmod. Changing the chassis length will also require changing of the drive shaft.

Battery Clips: On the Original Mini-z the clips can fit with minor sanding or fileing. The MR-02 is a new design and not at all compatible.

Motors: Mini-z motors will physically fit in the Xmod but the stock electronics may not be able to handle the faster more powerful motors. Also you will need to invest in a Pinion puller from a hobby shop that sells the 1:24 scale slot cars to remove the brass pinion on the Xmods motor. Don't forget your soldering iron as well.

Tires: The rubber tires on the Mini-Z can fit but since the Xmods have a raised part in the center of the wheel they will have a raised center when installed.

#10 Motors: (thanks to neurokinetik at tinyrc.com)
Stage 1: 85 turns, wire thickness is less than 30 gauge. Probably 32 or 34.
Stage 2: 49 turns, 30 gauge.
X Speed: 49 turns, 30 gauge.
Crest Spin Brush: 70 turn of ~ 32 gauge

Xmods FAQ part 2 - Q&A

Q: How much do they cost?
A: "yet cost 2 - 3 times less than comparable items at hobby shops." which is $49.99 to get you started.

Q: Would Mini Z bodies fit on it?
A: This is tricky it is Yes and No. Most Mini-Z bodies will physically fit the frame of the Xmod but the way a body on an Xmod mounts is different. You would have to come up with your own way of mounting the Z body on the X.

Q: Can Xmods be found outside of the US?
A: They can now the Canadian version of RadioShack is just getting in parts.
Also in Japan the big RC company HPI Racing is distributing Xmods.

Q: Can you do the FET mod to an xmod?
A: If you know exactly what FET stands for and can remove and install one on your own without asking for help then YES! But why do it when there are more efficient ways out there like Ph2t's Nelly?

Q: Does the starter kit come with a batteries or charger?
A: No! Does anything come with batteries anymore?
You will need 1 9volt battery and 4 AAA batteries to make it work.
It works better if you get the 23-350 batteries/charger than alkalines and the best option is find IC3 AAA batters and charger.

Q: Why should I take the batteries out of the car before I work on it?
A: For safety sake remove them. If the antenna touches the motor or other metal contacts while batteries are installed you will burn up the receiver board. The receiver board controls the Range of the Xmod is it goes so does your range.

Q: How can I prevent the sort range problem?
A: First Remove the batteries before ANY work on the car. Second get about 16 Inches of 1/16 inch heat shrink and slide that over your antenna wire. Put a small piece over the point where the wire from the car mates up with the screw attach point. See the newest cars for details.

Q: If I did touch the antenna to the motor and damaged the car how can I fix it?
A: Two ways you can order the receiver board from RadioShack or get two replacement inductors and replace just the bad parts. The inductors can be found in many of the Xmods shops if you need them.

C Jizzle you are the mother ******* man ! Much appreciated playa FA REAL. For the guys in canada and for peeps like myself who will be waiting EONS for the product to hit store WELL after it has hit the shelves in other markets this is a life saver. Big Ups!

P.s. I wasnt implying XMODS would hit canada at the same time they hit the states (would be mad nice if they did)...simply that having them available via 1-800 The Shack is is the shizzle ( i.e. no waiting for hell to freeze over before they arrive in Canada or other remote outpost lol).
