I picked up a Skyline on Saturday along with a ton of upgrades. I didn't have time to really start assembling it until Sunday evening. This is probably just a quality control issue. While attaching the wheels, I noticed one of the threaded axles was smaller in diameter than the rest. The nut actually slides right on it instead of screwing on. I packaged it back up and I'll exchange it today. When I unwrapped the hood, I noticed a flaw in the paint. Right in the middle of the hood it looks like a piece of dirt was on the hood when they painted it.

did I hear correctly, that the screws and stuff are plastic?

No, the screws and bolts are metal. On mine, it looks like the threading machine over did it when they machined thread the axle.

quality is not job #1 at RS.

#1 for me.. probably in a long list to come.
hand held controller does not respond well to reverse.
(One has to force or apply high pressure on the trigger for it to work)

I don't experience that with mine, nox. It does take a bit of getting used to... the first time you hit the rev position it's the brake. Then you have to hit it again for rev to kick in. I'm just starting to get used to the "double pump" action for rev. Not sure if that was what you were experiencing, but it did seem kinda broken until I figured it out.

wow, I didn't know that about it....THANKs!...
where did you read that? or did you just figure it out...due to playing with it?

I have not had much run time with this Xmod....

Well, I figured out the hard way that Xmods are not meant for outside use. I had just assembled everything and I was testing it out in front of my condo. The driveway is concrete so it's not rough terrain, but there are a few concrete joints. I looked over the area first to make sure there wasn't any obstructions. To make a long story short, I hit a rock about 1/4" in diameter. If the tire had hit it, no problem. If you examine the bottom of the Xmods, you will see a screw that attaches to shocks/wheel knuckle. There is very little clearance between the bottom of this screw and the ground. I happened to hit rock with the screw and it cracked the screw right off along with a small piece of the knuckle. Fortunately, I had the AWD kit and I replaced the broken knuckle with the upgrade. You have to be very careful and I found out the hard way.

I was afraid something like that might happen.. Anyway to raise them up a hair?

That sucks man.

When you get a chance, you should come down, and race that thing in my tennis courts... I'd like to see what it can do against my bits, and SEs.

Sounds good. Maybe early on Saturday 12 or 1. I gotta be home in time to watch college football at 3pm. I should have all the upgrades on it by then. PM me your number later and I'll give you a call Friday to set something up.
