Well I tried to do something different with the tattoo theme, but it just wasn't me. So when my neglected Xmod got a blob of super glue dried up on it's roof, I decided it was time to repaint it, CrazyDave style.

So now it's blue, and gots da flames...

Love it or hate, it's my style, and I'm much happier with it. 8-)

I use Duplicolor automotive laquers. When I had laid graphics on it before, I was just doing it on a small section, but I could tell paint didn't want to stick to these bodies, so before I painted this one, I sanded it really good with 350 grit sand paper. I had just masked off the windows, so when I put clear coat on them it made them look melted. I had to wet sand the windows afters every coat with 1500 grit to smooth them out. By the third coat the paint was laying nice.

Yeah, it comes in spray and a cool little touch up bottle, that has a brush on one end, and a felt tip marker on the other. Great for detailing.

...and yep, I do use 3M tape, though it is kind of thick, and some masking film from your LHS would probably be more ideal, but it works for me.

When I first started reading I was honestly kind of bummed that you ditched the tatoo paint job, that was so damn sweet. Then I scrolled down and HOLY FRIGGIN COWS and whatnot. That blue is so nice, and the flame is, as always perfect not to mention the fade..... sigh... ok gotta go do somthing else, that car got me excited.

I bet if you sent those pics, you'd be in CAR ACTION again. I have'nt bought it in a few months, but I doubt they've even run any x-mods in readers rides yet.

@Finks, yeah, you know it kinda killed me to sand off the old graphics, but when I was done, I was just so much happier with the way it looked, that I don't even miss 'em.

@Bird, I wonder if RC car Action would show pics of XMods? :???:

Ay any rate, I can't find that mag around me any more, so I probably won't bother, because I'd never even get to see it in there.
