Car runs fast as hell... until i put the body on?

my car runs great, until i go to put the body on, once the back end of the body snaps down, all power is lost to the car, almost like me turning it off. man this is wild, i looked over the whole car and even put pressure on it simulating the body coming down on the wires. when i take the body off, or even inch it out of the back hook, power is back on and my steering engages (click). WTF is going on! im countin on you pimps. thanks

That is weird. Did you modify the body at all? Sounds almost like the wheelwells are binding the tires. Could also be the back clip binding up the rear gears, take a look at that. I dunno man, weird.

the body is modded, but nothing is touching. as i said before, its as if i had turned the power off on the bottom, like i slide to switch to off right when the body goes on. its not like its draging or something is stopping movement, because there is no power... so i doesnt make an attempt (like a hum or a sound like its trying). its definatly the power disconnecting. i checked the batteries and they dont move at all when the body snaps on.. so thats not it. im so confused!

It aint the batteries, you say no wires are loose, and you can't duplicate the effect with the body off. I'm freakin stumped. I bet it's something simple too. Let me/us know when and if you figure this one out, I'm stumped.

it actually runs now for about 2 and a half seconds after you slap the body on, then cuts out. i took a video of it happening, its 330kb. but i cant host it. damnit i just finished modding the body, it looks great.. and then the body kills the car!

nother update. i think its the battery clips. there not holding the batteries in tight enough... when i squeze the sides of the body, the car regains power. but how do i fix this?

Here's a couple things to check:
Are the contacts to the battery good and sprung? I'm thinking maybe the body is putting just enough pressure longitudinally to flex the chassis enough to lose contact.
Make sure all the wires coming off the PCB aren't touching eachother and shorting out. When I've had similar problems, that was the culprit.
Does it do this with different bodies? Try something roomier like a Skyline if you have one.

just saw your last post. You can shim it with tin foil, or gently pry it towards the center of the car with the battery removed, so it is "sprung" a little tighter.

yeah, the little metal conacts that run up the side of the chassis and make contact with the ends of the battery. Either bend them in slightly, or shove a piece of tin foil in between the battery and the contact.
I had this problem with a NiMH battery as it was a millimeter or two shorter than the stock NiCD.

well, bieng the resourceful pimp i am.... i took superflys advice and everything was going great until i realized i didnt have tin foil

..

so i though i was doomed. Then i took a pencil grip, cut it in half and did the same with another, then snuggly fitted them under each clip. this allowed the worn clips to grip nice and tight. She clocked in at a stunning 18.2 mph on the newly paved roads in front of my house. im just glad i can drive it again. A toast to my 3rd and best Xmod! (the other 2 were defective) Well thanks alot pimps for helping me out during my time of need, all your efforts kept bringing me closer to solving the problem. I hope i can help you all out in the future.

Dude, I'm laughing my ass off right now. I wasn't paying attention to which forum I was in, and thought we were talking about bits. All my advice is based on the exact same problem I had with a bit and a Supra body.
