I'm guessing you guys haven't seen my videos:

All it takes to drift is the right amount of oversteer. RWD is too much oversteer with Xmods, at least in my opinion. However, as long as you can get your car spinning in donuts (full throttle, full steering in one direction), then drifting is simply a matter of controlling those donuts and linking different donut pieces together.
Xmods are really difficult to drift. Unless you're on a nice floor like a classroom, you'll need taped tires. A spinbrush magnet swap couldn't hurt either.
I gave up on Xmods recently, and bought a heavily modded Micro RS4 for around $240. It handles and performs much better, and I don't have to worry about breaking connections when I hit something, or drivetrain parts wearing out after only a few weeks with a barely-modified motor.

In the videos I use tape, but for drift-racing I don't. Tape strongly exaggerates sliding, and you lose a lot of power that way.
I absolutely cannot drive Xmods without awd on anything besides carpet. When my axles started breaking, I gave up on Xmods rather than buying new axles.
My motor is a stage 2 with spinbrush magnets and slightly advanced timing - white gearing.
