Steering Gear Box

I take pride in the fact that essentially any problem a kid has with an X-mod I can fix for them here at the Shack in a timly manner. All but one problem that seems to be rearing it's evil head more and more. Basically the steering box locks up and stutters (like a ZZ SE) and will only steer one way or not at all. I have tried to take the box apart and analyze the problem but nothing is poping out at me. In the last month I have seen 3 X-mods come back because of this and it's pissin me off. Anybody have some input?

It is not the servo it is either the pot (can on the back) or the main board. Mine does it when I am running my hottest motor like the servo can't get enough prower. I'm still researching a full board replacement. Just takes time to reverse engineer!

i know when you ad more cells it twitches as well. mine did it and sg219s acted the same with 6cells. steering works fine tho just a little twitchiness.

i had a similar incident with my xmod i charged the batteries, never used it, then got busted by the cops, i spent 3 weeks in jail, when i got out i went to mess w/ my xmod, but the steering servo would only turn to the left, i worked it back and forth by hand, got no result, so i pulled out the batteries, let it sit for a few hours reinstalled them and it worked great.
