Pinion Pull'n without the Pinion Puller!

Ok I don't know if this has been posted before but if so I am sorry. Anyway I was wondering has anybody on this site pulled the pinion off a Xmod motor successfully without the pinion puller. If so How? Thanks Ya'll :cool:

I heard (haven't tried) that a good method would be to cut a notch in an old, sturdy metal butter knife and fit the neck of the motor into it, with the pinion gear resting on the knife, and the motor can below it. Then take a hammer and whack the nub that sticks out so that it goes in, thus pushing the armature a bit out of the gear. Then take a screw driver or some shit and push the rest of the leg out.

I haven't tested it yet....only used the nail remover thngy on a hammer, and took another hammer and whacked it...couldn't push the rest out though....

Yea well I used a fork under the pinion and used a hammer to whack tha armature thing down, but once it was level with the pinion I couldn't get it down any farther, and I don't have a nail set that small to hammer it out. I don't know. :cool:

heat the pinion with a blowtorch or lighter. it willl make the pinion expand and should be easy to pop off.

OK I just used the torch to pop off the pinion and it was SUCCESSFUL!! anyways it was a 10 tooth pinion and i put it on my my SB Hybrid motor but the xmod has the blue 11 tooth bevel, with this cause problems (10 tooth pinion with 11 tooth bevel)?? The Car runs good for now, but I am talking about in the long run will this affect performance, should I change the blue 11 tooth bevel to the 10 tooth bevel? Thanks Ya'll :cool:

Yeah, you gotta match the pinion and the bevel...

ok, I'll switch the bevel then, With a SB Hybrid motor does adding a 6 cell add alot of speed or does is work better with RS stage 2 motors (it probably doesn't matter does it?) :cool: Thanks

The RS/ SB motors all suck anyway man....

ok if they all suck then what are the best motors to use? I know people make motors and sell them but who's the best? :cool:

THERE IS NO BEST MOTOR!!!!

Just like the real cars there is no real best motor. The best motor depends on where and how you race. If you are racing on a small track with short straights then go stage 1 since it has the torque when you come out of the corners. If you race on a track with long straights go stage 2 for the top end. If you drag race the by all means mod the car with more batteries and an aftermarket motor.

no offence but there is a best motor its called a tamiya plasma dash its the size of a 130 and its got a modifier can type and a great armature.. put in neo mags with can BBs and you have the best motor.. you guys gotta get over the SP/Rs motor there pretty crap..

AHAHAHA almost.. nah i still want them there not for me there for a mate (ame with most the parts)... he needs the pinions and spurs. cause there a different pitch to anything else.. the motors will be salvalged for the heat sink gears and maybe brushes and then use the armatures for winding practice as i did with my stage 2 kit...

I figured as much. I didn't think those were for you. :cool:

Those are cool to use as parts and practice. I use SB motors from the $1 store. Yep, their only One U.S. Dollar a peice. Perfect to tear apart and mess with.
