CJ in RC Driver magazine!!!

Post by Bird »

I picked up the new(August '04) issue of RC Driver tonight and started paging through it just a little bit ago... anyways, I get to the "editors inbox" page, and there is a letter pointing out the mistakes in the July issues "Small Talk" feature on xmods and it turns out that it was from the Shack Pimp himself, CJ... I was like "Whaaaaa?"

Anyways he told them what was up and all that and let them know that they forgot to mention the whole xmod aftermarket and shit...

They responded by saying that they have plans to cover xmods more in the future, which seems like good news to me, because as I've said before, this mag is pretty new still, and is making the other RC mags pretty much obsolete... long story short, I think that more coverage from these dudes could lead to some established companies contributing some high quality stuff to the game....

Anyhow, maaaad props to CJ for helping to keep xmods in the thoughts of these serious hobby peeps, which I think will benefit all of us.

So you liked what I said!

The only thing is thought they left off the URLs to the sites I mentioned for aftermarket parts and my FAQ.
original letter wrote:First off I love your magazine I dropped two other RC magazines for yours. I recently received your July '04 issue and to my surprise there was an article in the Small Talk about Xmods with quite a few errors. I admit I sell them for RS. Steve was calling them X-Mods when the proper spelling is Xmods no hyphen. He also had a picture of the un-official Xmod site www.xmodrc.com instead of the site noted in the article www.xmodsrc.com. Xmodrc the unofficial site is a great community but to find out what RadioShack is doing you must visit the official site. Also for the web to plug my site that has been around since the start I am the keeper of the Xmods FAQ at http://www.geocities.com/cjellis/ (now if this is published it may kill by bandwidth). He forgot all the Aftermarket parts we have Carbon Fiber chassis at www.tinyrc.com, Lithium Battery upgrades at www.atomicmods.com, Aluminum Drive axles and wheels at www.xmodworld.com, and Faster motors at xmodworld and www.XmodSpeed.com.

Oh hell yeah! Just the fact that those guys are aware of the following these rides have gives me hope that there is a real possibility that some heavy hitters in the industry could also be taking notice and considering developing upgrades for us!!! I know, I'm an optimist, but daaaayum!!! Imagine the possibilities if some of those companies stepped up!

Oh, it also helps that this mag has a monthly micro column and in that same issue that your letter is in there is a 40th aniversary mini z monster featured in the readers rides section and a short mini z review elsewhere in there.... All of this adds up to more interest and possibly better things for the whole micro community.
