Xmod Knuckle slop fix.

Post by Mazda787b »

Ok, we all know the tie-rod ends that go into the knuckles have mad slop in them. I devised a way to fix this.

First off, if you have no idea what I am talking about, look at the highlighted area in this pic:

Now, go to your LHS, or simply look aroung your house for silicone or rubber fuel tubing. It should be about 2mm in outer diameter, and 1mm inner diameter. Fit it over the rod end, you it should look somewhat like this (NOTE* I have made a simple ring aroung where the tubing should go, and it probablly won't look exactly like the picture).

for 1' of tubing (My LHS only sells in multiples of 1 foot), I paid $0.70. This has taken all of the slop out of my steering, and gives me no resistance. If it seems as though it binds up your steering a bit, add a few drops of oil to it. I recommend Hoppe's Gun Oil, or some pure silicone shock fluid you may have laying around.

Let me know how this works out for you guys.
There's no replacement for displacment.

That sounds like a decent mod. I'll have to try it out.
