I've been holding out on you pimps

Post by Tuner1989 »

Well after seeing those crazy germans and their xmods i knew i had to try something myself. Here is one that really inspired me.

http://549.rapidforum.com/topic=102180190936

Onto the project

So, after seeing the new iw02's that are coming out soon and seeing that they have removable servos that got me thinking.

I used a cll light kit port from a old xmod board soldered it all on and got it to screw on. If i do say so myself it looks very clean.

Heres what the basic setup should look like when done but all cleaned up and seated properly of course.

As you can see i have changed to a lithium setup, i plan on running 2 cells in parallel so i keep it around 3.6 volts but still keep a good amount of torque and power.

Bottom of chassis ooo, ahhh This lighting doesnt do it justice though........

Sorry for the somewhat crappy pics i know they arent up to my usual par lol, I just got home and am very tired. (long day) Didnt feel like setting up the whole photobooth thing and the light over my workspace is out :o

The basic cutout of the chassis was made by a friend. He was very generous and donated it to me. Its my job to put it to work and get it working properly with AWD etc. And i can say its coming along very well.

So far the specs are

Mini-z convert body

Cf decks

Custom chassis with crazy C.O.G.

Bearings

Awd

Ball diff.'s

Iw-04 board

custom wired hs-55

2 Lithium cells wired in parallel

Nylok nuts

Custom exhaust

X-speed motor

But i want your guys's comments go ahead post pimps! ;)

I think thats a post i can end my night on.

Now that looks real nice man, great work. I'm suprised it is narrow enough to fit under the body.

Crusty: will do on the updates. And you most likely can expect a vid as well but i have to get a decent converting program and the car running first :-o

Zenith: That is the beauty of mini-z bodys, tons of room.

very cool

somehow that's strangely familar.

Hows that chassis working? from the nubs around the steering arm, i think that was attempt #1. I see you added the shock mounts.

Familar? nah

So far so good, knock on wood.

Yep i got the AWD diff. space dremeled out and got the suspension mounts dremeled out and working. Still need to shave down the knubs a little bit to get a better turning radius.

But besides that it seems to be working great, Theres no drivetrain issues whatsoever from what i can see. :-o

Thanks again clint :-)

UPDATE FINALLY!!

Lots of suprises!

Guts Are done! Mini-z Mr-01 board, xmod servo, Nelly Deluxe!

Image

Chassis is cleaned and polished! (Btw did anyone else have this problem? I had to shave down the head of the gpm front awd axle to stop binding during turning inside movement.)

Image

And i had to throw in a body pic of this awesome painted kyosho nsx! Painted + originally owned by betty k.

Image

I'm going to be running 2S lithium ion's for the moment i'll upgrade to li-poly sooner or later i have to earn some cash first.

I plan to race this on very large tracks, most likely a 1/10 track locally.

More updates soon!

Well uh, i had er running, then 5 min into it she drastically slows down, then eventually stops.

I take the motor apart to find a part of the comm bent and a brush that broke off during dissasembley.

Not sure what happened, i'll get some carnage pics soon...................

Btw the nelly handled it all like a champ! :-o
