Picked up a set of fets from ph2t/ausmicro(Thx Guys) and finally got around to installing them.

The install is straightforward(ph2t's howto is floating around somewhere), just make sure your soldering iron has a fresh tip. A magnifying glass is nice if you are blind.

It's still slower than donkey shit, but that's my fault. I gave away all my working 130's and all I have is the evo stage 2(crap). I'll probably wind a 19T 26Guage(plasma dash ferrites, atomic bb case, mzw long+fat arm,carbon brushes) for it and a 27T 30Guage(same except neo mags) for general use. Those were my two favorite motor setups for the Gen1's.
In the end i'll add a 2s lipo for some dyno goodness.

Fets installed. 9910's and 7329's


Shaved the cover down instead of just cutting a hole in it.


Retains that "stock" appearance. Fets? What fets? hehe.


After a few minutes of hard driving, fets dont even get warm, while the evo stage 2 gets smoking hot. Success!

Clint: Great job man, what lipos have you considered using? I would suggest polyquest 600's They have a 6A current draw continious.
And also they are shorter that a AAA battery and would fit the evo easily with minor modifications.

Clint, looking good man. I've got the stang as well but I'm being bit of a pussy about taking out yet, still a shelf queen.

My other evo chassis is soo fucken trashed from all the testing I've been doing. lol......

Clint, (one letter off from being a taco, lol!) have you noticed a difference in "punch" off the line even with the stock motors? it may be hard to tell, just wanted to know your thoughts.

Yeah, the punch that AWD killed, gets revived with the fets. Plus I was able to step up to higher gearing from the stage 2 kit.

It's a great mod and simpler than doing the fets on a Gen1.

The airmail option worked fine. No problems at all.

thanks for the feedback man, it's good to know. you will find with the hot motors you described that the mosfets will get warm. those are some pretty low wind numbers, coupled with a punchy powersource you'll have some pretty solid current draw.

I take it you're running these motors exclusively on li-poly? or are you starting off with 4 cells at first?

I've started spec'ing out some ETEC 700mAh HP li-poly's for my evo, but I'll definately look at doing at least a 2x3 stack.

I've only ran the evo on 4 nimh's. I was waiting on the lipo until I sorted out this diff problem. I do have a 600mah Poly Quest on order.

My winds are real hot, looks like I'll have to rethink those motors
when I swap in the lipo. Have to order some more fets too.
