Misc. bits of info on my Xmod truck

Misc. bits of info on my Xmod truck
So I'm gonna get an EVO today, but after looking at the Xmods website, I'm really confused.
The trucks seem to have raised suspensions, like they're on blocks or something. If I wanted to convert it to a car, can those chassis pieces be swapped out?
Is the H2 sitting higher than the F-150?
Its mentioned the trucks can climb a 40 degree angle, is this just because of the included pinion, or do they have a different gear reduction?
Basically I'm looking to get a truck to start with, I think I'll get lot more use out of Xmods if I could do some carpet offroading in my living room, but I want to be able to convert it to race with cars on the street, I ever needed. I thought the F-150s looks would serve that dual purpose better, but if the H2 sits higher, I'm getting that one.

Yes the climbing angle is probably the stock capabilities. To my knowledge the stock gearing the one of the torquiest setups. The upgraded motor kit has diffrent gearing setups to suit your needs.
The trucks might be able to hang with the cars to some extent but you would have to buy the slammed suspension kit etc.
Both truck chassis sit the same height its probably just the height of where the body sits.

I don't need to be faster than the cars, just as long as I can possibly run with them.
People have complained that after installing it they get very little suspension travel.
The coils might work but i think the height depends on a screw in plate on the chassis or something along the lines of that.

Well after my wife got all Ikea happy and had me assembling furniture all weekend, I decided it was my turn, and went ahead and got into my Xmod.
I like it, I'm not disappointed.
It was pretty quick out of the box, and it could be faster, but it was fast enough that it gave me hope that the stage 2 motor set with a bearing set will give me more than enough speed for racing around my living room. It had a bit a of a tendency to hang up on the edge of the throw rug, but I'm sure the larger tires in the off road set, and AWD will fix that. It turns on a dime too. Perfect for driving in tight areas. I like that the steering happens to be centered, without having to adjust the trim, since the Tx still don't recall the trim settings when you shut it off.
Now the bad. I didn't really like how they went through all the effort to give it independent supension all the way around, then to get more articulation, they have the rear of the chassis pivot, without any kind of dampening. The effect when driving was exactly what I expected. The outside rear would drop in hard corners, quickly shifting the weight, lifting the inside front, and leaving the car on it roof. That sucks, because I don't want to have to keep getting up when I'm all comfy in my couch.
All in all much less disappointing than my first Xmod.

I don't have a Overland, but I have an OG Iwaver 04, which is similar. I like the 04's suspension better. The 04 is much lighter, but I like that the Xmod can be upgraded to AWD. They are comparable in speed, but the Xmod is geared lower, stock. I think if they had same motor and gearing they'd be on track with each other. The 04 runs over more stuff, and stays on its wheels more, just by virtue of its much larger monster wheels. The 04 and the Xmod Evos both have better stock FETs than Overlands.
I'd put this up against an Overland, but the bottom line is, they're different beast, both fun.

I renamed this thread so I could just leave my random thoughts on my EVO truck here.
First off, solved my handling problem. I discovered the tab on the motor was snagging on the body, causing it to get stuck inside the body when it dropped, and that's why it flipped sometimes. The car still throws its weight into the corner and lifts the inside wheel, which I kinda dig. I noticed it had already been grinded at, but they did it along wrong plane. They followed the face of the motor, leaving it to stick out where it hits the body.
The Off road set has longer arms, but I don't think they're any wider on the car because of way they angle down. This new geometry seems to give it more leverage on the shocks, making the springs seems softer, and the supsension more responsive to the terrain. I like it, it handles good with the big fat tires. The heavier tires make the slop at the wheel bushings a thousand times worse. My steering wanders a bit now due to that issue.
I got a stage 2 motor, but they were out of bearings. Without the bearings, the stage 2 motor loses a lot of punch with the same 9-tooth pinion. In the confines of my living room, it almost seems slower, though it just starts to approach a higher top speed when I run out of room. I'm gonna try the 8-tooth pinion, but I'm thinking my best bet right now is to go with the stock motor and slightly faster gearing.

Are the upgrade motors any torquier? The stock motor with the off-road kit is sluggish and doesnt have alot of torque, while this is acceptable it is a little disappointing.
