This is a central place to share your grouses and fixes for the inherant Xmod EVO problems. I'll try to update this so that all the stuff is in the first thread. What ever it is, if it pisses you off or barely itches your skin, post it here. Also please feel free to correct anything I, or anyone else have posted. This is not a place for upgrade mods like PCB swaps, but if these type of mods are needed, please link them to the source like I did with Ph2t's diff mod. No heavy details are needed here, This will be a hub for problems and fixes.

The problems will be listed here and numbered. Their fix will have the corresponding number.

Problem:

• 1) The Steering knuckles: These break very easily, and may even come cracked NIB.
  2) Front shock tower: The screws that secure the upper swaybar to the chassis often becomes dislodged
  3) The rear differential: The small gears within the differential strip too easily and render the car useless.
  4) Stuttering: "When I use my truck, when i go into reverse it stutters,sometimes it doesnt move at all, and when i go forwards after using reverse, it also stutters."-stampede_dude
  5) Screws backing out: Some of the screws around the shock towers and other places back out after some use/abuse.

Solution:

• 1) Replace with GPM or HotRacing parts
  2) Replace with GPM or HotRacing parts (anything that breaks for that matter)
  3) Find the fix by Ph2t here
  4) First try using a Gen 1 TX, if not, change the crystals, if not check the diff to see if it's stripped.
  5) Try using the blue (medium) thread locker on the screw to hold it in.

weeeeelllll.... no. I'm still working on geting some . I don't really have the problem, but I'm looking for a head's up on the ones that may arise. Also this would be a good way for other pimps like myself to see what they are getting int and what they'll need once the buy the EVO. I'm waiting on an EVO chassis in the mail, it has a broken knuckle.

Strange that hasnt happened to me yet and ive owned 3 evos.

Must be nice to have such easy access to EVOs. I don't care about any of the compaints for these things. I really like them and i still have not driven one. I am practically suffering over here to get my hands on one lol!

Hell yeah, they completely blow the doors off of a generation 1 stock to stock or with the same upgrades. I have bought many retures and the one I got today works great but I think it has a slight tranny problem. But I did notice that radioshack included 4 spare knucles with a note explaining why and an apology. I got it running and I came into a corner and instead of flipping the rears started skidding and a little bit of drift action took place which was cool.

The shock tower is what broke, the screw stayed put the entire time. The problem was too much speed, uneven concrete joints, and a missing front bumper. My biggest problem was weak dogbones, they snapped right in half.

The shock tower is what broke, the screw stayed put the entire time. The problem was too much speed, uneven concrete joints, and a missing front bumper. My biggest problem was weak dogbones, they snapped right in half.

Fix for #2 and and any other breaking parts would be Alloy.

Alloy would fix the broken parts problem, fo sho. I fix for the screws themselves coming out would be super glue. Just a dab on the tip of the screw before you screw it in and that mutha will stay put.

Super glue might be a bit too permanent.

I would suggest some blue thread locker. (blue=medium strength)

I'm really working on it. But the money is real steep for me. $300+ of my currency for a full GPM set. And I want 2 sets . I'll PM you.

I set up a paypal account, but have no money in there, and no checking account. I could get the money in a few weeks, but all I can manage are MOs you already told me you dont accept them.

Could be...I'm still thinking in a bigger scale, ya know...bigger screws and all. It works like a charm there, but you're probably right. With those tiny little screws and that fine thread it may be ugly if you used Super Glue. I'd say blue threadlocker probably would be better.

Is it just me or is the EVO car chassis NOT adjustable. Does it have a fixed wheelbase? I'm not seeing anyway to change it.
