How would I be able to put a HITEC HS-55 feather servo into my xmod?

I wanted to seek advice before I went and tried it out. I might be able to get my hands on one of these and heard they are very good servos, and I realized the turning on my xmod needed to be boosted up a notch, would I be able to swap the stock Xmod servo for this hitec one?

Also will I have to change boards at all...

What are some of the steps I would need to take before doing this...

you'll have to bypass the servo board, or remove the pot from the servo board. judging on my experience with a CS-4.4, if you take out all the chips and FETs on the board while keeping the pot, you can solder the wires you need to the pot and you won't get any adverse effects.

then again, if the HS-55 doesn't use an SMD potentiometer, you'll have no problems at all with that. just take the pot and motor, throw away the servo board, remove wires from xmod servo and solder respectively to locations on HS-55.

i *think* that's about it... mounting can't be that hard, it's the same size as the xmod servo as far as i know. if not, a little styrene and foam fabbing will do.

thats an interesting idea. I've got a borked HS56 that i dont mind cutting up. dunno if the pot range will be correct.. but it'll force me to brush up
on my electronics.

i'd say too much work with this one. Mini-t servo has 4 wires and could be direct swap. it's cheap too about $15.
i did the swap with miniz/iwaver pcb, and it works good. i don't know about
xmods pcb, but could be the same deal

Really...its just a pluck of the servo, and a reinstallation with the miniT servo?

Does it make the cars turn better? I would not have to change the Xmod TX would I?

no change of TX and steering is improved. resistor mod for xmod servo works good too

I could buy the resistors at like a local radioshack right? I hear the best ones are the 4,7 ohms?

well, if you're using a mini-t servo, there are no guarantees... if someone knew the values of the xmod servo pot and the mini-t servo pot, you could tell for sure.

for the xmod, the recommended are the 3.3k ohm resistors.
