hot air extraction......

How about extracting hot air from the motor via a fan? in a pull type arrangement.
I thought I'd put something together. All I used.
-Bit CharG 3.0 motor + pinion
-4 pins
-lid from an artline marker
-packaging plastic for prop (lol)
It's not installed yet. I needed to make sure it would pull enough air though. Originally I wanted it to push cold air into the motor, but the airflow wasn't very good comming out the small end of the marker lid.
Far from finished, but I'd thought I would share at the very least.
Here's a video. I'm running it off a 80mAh 3.7V lipo.

Cool shit!!
I just wanna see how and where you mount that. Seems a bit big.

This is a good idea, but for me, I found that with Xmods no one method of cooling is efficiently useful. A combination of forced induction and hot air removal can be used. Induct the air while it's in motion, and evacauate it whilt it's not (in the pits or something)
I love it

Now I want to see it sucking in the flame
I still think its an idea, as opposed to some indivuals on another forum.. lol..

hey now that's a pretty neato ghetto ducted fan!
erm... i mean yo fo shizzle pizzle fanizzle
i personally think you'd do better to use it to blow a concentrated jet
onto a motor/esc rather than extract.
where to mount it won't matter too much, you can use fuel tubing or something to direct a jet of air wherever you want it.
if i get bored enough i'll try to make you a smaller one

hey man, yeah I did this yesterday on mah day off, sad hey! lol....
you may find it's harder to push air through a small hold than pull it. That's what I found. But the prop is not really suited to this type of thing and I'm sure there's losses all 'round, lol....
but yeah, give it a shot if ya wants...

it's a good idea.

lots of uses could come out of this. extra air flow for batts, aluminium heat sink( from comp) + fan, etc.
i suppose it can be connected to lights output on xmod.

OK, made a bit more progress fellas....
Finally manged to find some brass tubing that was just right for the application. On the test motor I have partially soldered it to the can and then glued the rest of the join up to ensure it's airtight.
I also covered the other hole with green tape so no air comes in through this. I want all the air to be sucked in via the end bell. This way improving airflow around the armature.
Here is the ducted fan connected to the brass tubing. I only quickly attached it to test so it looks messy I know....
Bottom line, it works! Hot air comes out the back and the can is cooler than just sitting there. There is a lot more to test. for one I don't have a temperature meter which is a pain in the arse. Also, I need to improved the ducted fan and will also change out the fan motor since I think I put too much voltage through it early on.
At 2.4V , just sitting there, after a couple of minutes the can is HOT. This is typical of the plasmatomic (specially when I was breaking them in).
Then I turned on the extractor and after 30-40 seconds it felt cooler!!! lol....
Still, a few things to improve and I'll test again. If the results are consistent, I'll move it onto an EVO chassis and attempts 11.1V lipo again, lol....

That's really awsome dude ! Fuckin creative genius

. No wonder you are the one who invented such kick ass turbo's (from what I have heard).
If it runs cooler...it kicks more EDIT : of betty's arse

Green tape is the best for this application, other tape just won't cut it.

If you built a little chamber on the end of that fan, you could put a couple kernels of pocorn in there and make snacks while you drive!

A screen first so you can get the munchies and a cool smoke trail.
