AWD?

Post by trekbikedude »

Ok I just installed All wheel drive on my evo with the gpm middle gear thing (it's shaped like a cone.) I also have alloy diffs from gpm. Lately, The AWD Seems to be slipping (when I hold the front wheels the back wheels spin) I can't figure out what is causing this.

Please help or tell me a fix,

John

Thanks

Sounds like your gpm diffs are too loose. you can tighten them with a 1.5mm allen wrench. The adjustability is nice..but they are in constant
need of adjustment, even with loctitited threads. reverse always seems to
unthread the diff.

The Diff was Tight. I made sure it was tight befoe I posted this. It seems like the AWD Gear that is on the Driveshaft isn't catching onto the front diff's gear. So it makes a loud grinding noise.

Is there anyway to fix this? Thanks

Ah, You might need a slightly longer driveshaft due to GPM manufacturing intolerances. You can file down a larger evo driveshaft down to size(if you aren't already using the long one). Or get a carbon fiber rod and cut it to
fit.

Midwest sells carbon fiber rods cheap. I use them all the time.
(local hobby shop carries the brand) I'd have to look up the proper
diameter. (dont recall it offhand).

yo what u have to do is shim the "3rd gear" as people are calling it

This one
http://www.atomicmods.com/ProductInfo.a ... ctid=12348
u have to put a shim on the right hand side, and on this on witch is the front u have to put a shim on the left hand side http://www.atomicmods.com/ProductInfo.a ... ctid=12347
, what u are trying to acomplish with doing this is making the gears have a tighter fit so they dont slip what i used when i did this was 2 pieces of paper for 1 shim. if im not making my self clear then email me at harr4340@gmail.com and i can take pics for u
