Well, I broke down and bought an evo, you might have seen the thread over at R7R, anyway, after getting a feel for it, it was a blast to drift, and I was feeling the Evo body ok, but not enough.

So I dug out my old Supra body after hearing that Gen1 Bodies fit the evo chassis, and luckily I didn't even have to change the wheelbase, just install a clip into the supra, and the supra front clip into the evo chassis.

I decaled it up a little with some of the included stickers, I went a little bid mad, but I'm happy enough with the result. Looks about drift-ready now. Just need some performance parts d0ewD!11!
So here it is... Supa-D

If you want to nail that sucker to the floor, just flip the front clip upside down :-o
You'll have to do some dremeling to the rear, or if it's just going to be for a couple pix, you can take the springs off the back and see how low it is ;)

Thanks for the tip! I'm going to have to try it. :-o

Oh and anyone recommend a hi torque motor that won't fry my electronics, I was thinking Kyosho X-speed.. but I'm not sure. I'd rather order it from RCMART than atomicmods, as I've allready drawn up an order with RCMART. :-o

I took the advice, and ran with it, flipped the front clip, and shaved the rear clip mounting post down a bit, and here's the result!

Much, Much better.

If you're gunna drift, there is no need to get anything other than the Stage 2 motor and gear it correctly. That thing is Torque City. Locking the differentials works wonders too, if you think you're sideways now...
Just don't lock it with glue or anything like that. Some bluetac and you're good to go. Just make sure you lock the front LESS than the back maybe a 3:2 ratio (back : front)

To me, upgrades aren't needed on thses things. Maybe just alloy knuckles and bearings. That supra is tooo fly man :-o

EDIT: Oh, and maybe some spring choices

dude take my advice and buy a Kyosho X-speed motor. its the best motor ever!!!!! i love mine and i drift two. when you do get it the car is going to spin-out more due to the fact that the rpms are way higher. but this can be fixed by ajusting the battery tray more twordes(sp?) the back of the car, considering you still have the stock battery tray.

EDIT: and yes maxx is right you should get the spring kit and use blues all around... or what ever makes you feel comfortable. but i would stay away from the lowering kit cuase if you do get it that cars body will be grindin' against the floor!

twordes: Pronounced twerds, in essence I guess you spelt it right  seeing that if you imagine an accent it sounds right.
It's spelt, towards ;)

Back on topic: Before moving the tray twordes any direction, you should adjust the gearing. You'll need more weight upfront so that you can have more weight on the steering wheels for greater control.
If that fails you can always adjust the batt tray twordes the rear :-o

But really, the stage 2 is ok.

yes but if you have more weight in the front then you spin-out faster and its harder to conterol.

This is where the gearing comes in. You need to dumb down an over torqued motor first. Kinda like taming a horse before you ride it.
When I tune any of my RCs, I have a goal in mind. Then I tune it to be horrible. Afterwards I make adjustments till it's just how I like it.
Other people do it the opposite, they throw the hottest motor the slickest tyres and then try to tame it from there, not my style, money is wasted on unnecessary stuff.

My advice: Gear it to get sideways, barely, then you can gear it for more torque gradually until you can maintain a slide.

On another note....
Personally, I'd like to try a micro T board in an X-mod. But I'll have to rebuild my evo as it is in parts lol

Ooo some heated discussion going on here!

Well, I locked the diff and fixed the wheel wobble (I posted this on r7r). and now its time for a test run.

I agree with maxx in a way, I'll drive the car for a good few hours before I make any adjustments, I note what I dont like about it, and change it... eg if I didn't like the amount of understeer, it's time for some Toe, softer front tires, and maybe some camber adjustment... and so on.

Anyway, thanks for the advice, I'll most likely just pick up the Stg 2 motor for now. :-o

no heated discussion, just two different ideas.

The first thing I learned in drifting is, hop ups and better motors don't make enough difference to be worth the money.

That depends on what hop-up it is.

I have a pretty aggressive driving style, and tend to be on the gas alot, therefore when hitting into stuff, my knuckles are eventually going to break, some
hop up
alloy knuckles will be worth it.

Anyway, I made some drift wheels from pressure pipe today (I think PVC/ABS idk) and it drifts really nice, trouble is it's too thin. I need to buy the 20mm stuff, instead of the 15mm that I bought... bummer. :o

I'll keep it for now, but I've had to replace the front knuckle screws with smaller ones, and not run the battery cover... because those all scrape!

im the same way man. also that problem hapened to me when i got my alloy knuckles( the tierod screw was scrapeing).oh and can you post some pics of the new tires?thanks.
