Mini Z parts sources?

Post by SuperFly »

I busted a knuckle on my iWaver, and need to replace it pronto. No knuckle = no racing. Anyone have good online sources in the US (need quck cheap shipping) other than eBay and mini-zracer.com?

i've been ordering off rcmart http://www.rcmart.com/catalog/login.php

regular shipping takes about 4 - 5 days from hong kong to aus, dunno if it's the same to the us. otherwise i've been picking up bits and pieces from ebay. if you're really in the shit i've got spares, but i think it will take about 10 days to get to you, lemme know how you go

I'd probably go for the 2 day shipping for $12 deal that tower has... They have a few decent sets on there for like 9 or 10 bucks... I'd hate to have to do it for a one part order.... but if I was really in a hurry...

i should mention the first aftermarket upgrades i got that i think are essential:

bearings, knuckles (i got a set of 3 cambered ones), and alloy wheelnuts.

i ordered this stuff before the iwaver came and they turned out to be immedeately usefull (i busted a knuckle on the first day). so if you haven't bought any of this then do so. and while you're doing that you may as well get an x speed motor and some wide alloys and some g*yoink* :greenblob:

Thanks guys.

ph2t: I just got some stuff from minizstore last week. Good prices and fast shipping, no knuckles in stock at the moment.

betty.k: what brand is the "set" of knuckles? I thought I saw a set of 3 pairs of knuckles and tie rods as a package, but now can't find it. Do the camber adjustments make drastic differences? Is the stock "0" or "-1"?

This will be my 3rd parts order since I got the iWaver. The first was for tires, H-plates (got the "O" plate, actually), and ball diff. The second was for more tires, lock nuts and pinion gears.

I remember seeing pictures of people's Mini-Z chassis with all the blinging alloy parts and thinking "I'm not going to get that deep into it." Now here I am, slowly replacing every plastic part I break with an alloy one. Should be through the entire chassis in a month or so!

all those parts i listed were "wfc" brand. i got them off an ebay store, revolutionshop i think it's called. stock knuckles are 0degree and the set i got has 3 pairs. 1, 2, and 3 degree camber. i find them really good for cornering as there's a fair amount of roll now that i've made mine heavier. study up on camber thrust.

think about a slick tyred bicycle wheel. if you point the wheel straight ahead, but lean it to one side, camber thrust will propell the whole wheel in the direction of the lean. on a bicycle, you don't steer by turning the handlebars, you lean. that's how you can ride around and steer with no hands. so that's why cambered wheels on the front bite more when cornering. check your front tyres, are they more worn on the outside?
same deal goes for the rear, but i don't think it can be done with a fixed axle. those fancy 1:10 cars have all that sorta crap adjustable, makes a big difference.

hobbyetc.com has a good slection of mini-z parts.

I'll mention them even though I'm mad at them, because when I ordered some clearance Bits, I wasn't contacted to inform me I wouldn't be recieving the Wild Char-G, but since they were clearing these things out at $10, I guess I can't complain too much.
...crazy man, crazy...dig it.
